Joseph F Brandt Elementary School No 2

I noticed many reviews of PS 28 are from 10-15 years ago. Thought I would update with a current experience. We LOVE PS 28. We have three kids here. We find that almost all the teachers are accomplished and VERY dedicated. The principal (Ms D) is fabulous - we are so lucky! She is a former lawyer who is incredibly warm and responsive to kids and families. The kid and family community is full of EVERYONE- which feels like such a lucky thing for kids to experience. Our older kid got into all the fancy test-in middle schools - but we chose to keep him here instead. It’s a wonderful learning community. No school is perfect - but this one is pretty great.

I just joined All Saints last year as a teacher and I'm so glad I did. The teacher community is incredibly supportive and the students are bright and good natured. I especially value the socioemotional support given to students. In Homeroom, students are able to build community with their grade level peers by sharing about their personal lives in morning meetings and working together on engaging activities to get the day started. In Spirituality, students explore virtues like Gratitude and Resilience by creating short lessons with their Homeroom and sharing their learning with the broader community of students and faculty once a week. This nurturing environment is coupled with rigorous academics. Elementary and Middle School teachers provide rich IB aligned lessons where students regularly connect abstract academic concepts to the real world. After working in charter schools in Brooklyn for 7 years, being a part of the All Saints community has been a refreshing change that has refueled my love of teaching. I'm so excited to send my son here in the coming years because I know he will be well taken care of at All Saints.

I love this school soo much!! My kids told me that they eat in the gym, so I would recommend a cafeteria and maybe even a chorus room and library

We could not be happier with a school! The Hudson School is providing a high level of academics without being a pressure cooker. In the middle school, the head of school specifically said that students should not be sacrificing sleep for homework. They have found and retained wonderful teachers who love their jobs and it shows. Compassion is part of the motto at THS and you can feel this. The kids don't have cliques and all are friends. Because of the small school size, the teachers really know and care for their students. There are many opportunities for students to be independent and create their own path - whether it's from the classes they take or the clubs they start. Students at THS are well-rounded. Many alumni have come back to say they were more prepared for college than many of their classmates. While the sports program is smaller, they are working hard to grow it. There are no other schools in the area quite like THS!
