Freehold Twp High School

Freehold Township high school has gone above and beyond to prepare my child for college. My children have done phenomenal here and the teachers and the school over all to thank.

Most teachers are very dedicated to their students. There are a lot of options for electives. Guidance department was very helpful but could use more personalized attention.

I have enjoyed my past 4 years at the Township. My fellow students come from many backgrounds but we mix well. There are typical high school kids behavior issues, but I always felt safe. The teachers care and are willing to help if you need a boost. AP classes are offered in many subjects. The teachers want you to be prepared for college and stress how important it is to strive to be your best whether you choose college or not. There is good school spirit and lots of sports are offered. You have to be good to make the team because there are lots of students who have played in sports since they were young. NJ has many great school districts so the competition is tough but Freehold offers so much. If you but forth a strong effort you will do well here. I’ll miss the great times and good friends, along with the special teachers, too.

I enjoyed my time here, for the most part. The academics were not strong at all and I was bored to tears in most my honors and AP classes. IB piloted for my grade, but I chose not to be in it. I had a fair mix of both good and bad teachers, did well in class, and managed decent scores on AP exams. The counselors are terrible. If you get injured enough to be out of gym for a good portion of the year, make sure your counselor knows. I tore my ACL before junior year and was out of gym all year following my November surgery, and my counselor came to me senior year and said I couldn't graduate since I hadn't passed gym that year. The school is very spirited and tons of people show up to tailgates, events, etc. The band is honestly the best part of the school.

I am going to be a senior at this school in September. While I don't love this school, I don't hate it either. It is a very safe place to attend school and there are some wonderful and motivational teachers here. With that being said, the teachers are not quick to discipline disruptive students, and the school is too small to accommodate the current student body. Also, there is no air conditioning when necessary. Overall I like FTHS, I'm glad I chose to go here.
