Read what parents are saying about School #12School 12 provides our children with not only great education but a safe and warm environment. The principal as well as the staff have always been available to answer any of my questions and provide me with the reassurance that our children are being well taken care of. They do wonderful activities with them such as the Halloween Dance, the Easter Egg Hunt, the Talent Show, and the Spelling Bee competition to name a few. Our children are constantly being challenged to reach their full potential and are engaged in an education that is fulfilling as well as fun. The teachers are not only qualified in what they do but are genuinely invested in having children succeed not only in school but in life. I appreciate the principal's effort to reach out to both the children and parents and like the fact that she is a bilingual administrator in a bilingual community. She takes the time to talk to parents and help them in anyway she can and by doing so goes above and beyond a principal's duties. Overall, School 12 is a wonderful school. Thank you.
Posted by a parent on 11/20/2010I do see serious problems at this school, I don't like the fact that I had to pay the HSA money even though I did not want to join. They kept sending me letters with writing on top saying 2nd notice 3rd notice. Since when are parents forced to pay these people. The tricky trunk was terrible there was no order I waited 45 minutes in the rain to get my child a cone of popcorn for $1., it was a mess, HSA needs to get someone with better organization skills and a parents need to speak up I can't stand that every time I go into the lunchroom the principle is yelling at our children to be quite while she talks, clearly she has no control. Also teachers at this school, the way the principle and teachers dress is terrible. I've seen bank tellers dress better and they make less!
Posted by a parent on 3/4/2010I am deeply disappointed in the poor quality at which this school is operated. Teachers are below acceptable, usually unable to answer even the basic child/school related question, and the woman that is currently serving as Principal should be ashamed of herself. She's an embarrassment to educators everywhere. The teachers wardrobe is unprofessionally at best and the school environment is sorely lacking. There is also evidence of prejudice against non-spanish students. I would hope that the Board of Ed inspects this school and provides appropriate action for the sake of the children.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school uses trailers as classrooms. SMH... absolutely horrible. I moved to Passaic from NYC and never seen this before. The only reason why I had my kids go to this school was because it was mandatory based on my children assigned school district. The city of Passaic needs to focus on actually building a REAL building for this school and stop wasting money on trying to make the trailers look better. Passaic built school #19 and opened its doors in 2012, why not focus on school# 17? This school deserves more attention, they don't even have a real gym! these poor kids play outside on bare concrete and the remarkable teachers always have to be creative to utilize to what they don't have for the children attending this school. I remember when my sons classroom trailer and other trailers floor broke, smh.... how unsafe! and in the winter in the school facility is super icy, when it rains, lots and lots of deep puddles and in the summer hardly any shade! all because the whole school is divided into trailers! build a building for this school city of Passaic!Parent Review9y ago - Number 6 Martin L King

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI'm not a fan of the this school. My son been attending this school since kindergarten and is now in the 2nd grade. I've seen with my own eyes how disrespectful some teachers are toward the students. The lady that sits toward the right in the back of the front office has a consistent attitude. I feel if your child is not Spanish, he or she will have a hard time socializing with other students on a positive level. They do not have a library. When my son was in kindergarten, they lost him. When I arrived to pick him up, I had to look for him for about 15-20 minutes before finding him alone & scared, walking around the outside of the school looking for me because they dismissed him without me being there. Thank God he was not kidnapped or hit my a car. I'm looking to move asap just to get him away from this school district.Parent Review9y ago - School #17

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe Teacher of the Year should go to Ms. Alessi 2nd grade teacher. She is the Best Teacher I have come across in ages. My Grandson loved her from day 1. She is VERY involved with her class & treats the child like her own!!!! She takes over a situation with ease and grace & sticks with the situation until it is fixed. She is the sweetest most Dedicated Teacher Alive!!!!! Thank You & God Bless You!!!!! It was a Tremendous Pleasure to have her teach & care for my Grandson!!!Other Review9y ago - St. Anthony of Padua School
