Gonic School

Many issues with this school. Completely agree with the last review about there being no accountability of the staff. A certain staff member continually ignored my child being physically bullied on the playground. When I would report the incident to the principal she would take action with the students, but not the staff member who should have handled it. If I didn't report it it was allowed to go on. I had to report incidents on multiple occasions and it was the same staff member over and over. When I asked to make a formal complaint with the superintendent the principal told me I was welcome to write a letter she would put in the staff members file.

While there are some awesome teachers that are very dedicated, there are also some who are there for the paycheck and little else. Unfortunately the new principal is not one of action or accountability of her staff. The great teachers are great, and the others are held to no accountability. Very frustrating place. Wish my tax dollars could could be directed to those who take the time and put in the effort, doing a splendid job.

While Rochester Schools often get a bum rap, Gonic School is a diamond in the rough. There are great, caring teachers with a wonderful supportive staff. It is a nurturing school and a VERY active parent group (PTA). The school has a brand new playground with modern, exciting equipment. It is definitely the best school around!

MY SON HAS ATTENDED GONIC SCHOOL SINCE THE FIRST GRADE HE HAS A LEARNING DISABILITY AND HE IS ALSO ADD THE FIRST COUPLE OF YEARS I REALLY WAS NOT TOO IMPRESSED WITH SOME THINGS ,BUT AS TIME WENT ON LOTS OF THINGS HAVE CHANGED ITS AMAZING THE PROGRESS HE HAS MADE I AM VERY INVOLVED IN HIS EDUCATION AND I GET REPORTS ALL THE TIME ON HIS PROGRESS THE TEACHERS ARE WONDERFUL VERY CARING ABOUT MY SON .THE SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAM THAT THEY HAVE IS AWESOME I CANT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT IT HE HAS ONE MORE YEAR THERE AND I WISH HE COULD STAY FOR EVER AT GONIC THEY ARE SO AWESOME .THERE ARE A FEW ISSUES WITH BULLYING BUT NOTHING THAT DOESNT GET SNIPPED IN THE BUD WITH ONE SIMPLE PONE CALL .GONIC IS THE BEST ..THANK YOU GONIC FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE ...
