SMS offers a well balanced middle school experience. The classrooms are calm and well run. The teachers are experienced and caring. There’s a clear focus on academics and plenty of cocurriculars available for kids to expand their interests after school. The staff is also very responsive to families needs.

My son was miserable in public school. Since starting here, he has done very well, and more importantly is happy and thriving.

Thile experience at the lower and upper schools vastly differs. We had some really good years but the upper school and admin have changed over quite a bit. The school is very permissive and allows unmitigated behavior that’s pretty disruptive and severe including threats of violence and unwanted sexual conduct and behavior by the boys group.Admin takes weeks to respond if they do. So many times no response to an issue. Very cliquey. The school allows a small group of moms to sit on campus “volunteering” but instead they target kids , make rude comments to the children and interrupt the learning . environment - no background checks or checking in w the office is required at this school. Ask about the teachers qualifications - many are underqualified to teach and can not handle classroom management, differentiation of lessons, little ability and understanding of neurodivergence’s , learning style, or disabilities No nurse, no guidance or counselors You will not get a call if your child falls behind - communication is very distant and sparsePros are the outside time, camping, coffee houses and school play. There are some staff that are outstanding but it is very hit or miss -
