Read what parents are saying about Myrtle Grove MiddleAs a sibling of someone with disabilities, it pains me to write this. Myrtle Grove is by far the worst school in the Wilmington area. Not only is it poorly equipped with teacher’s that just “push students along” (even when it would benefit them to hold them back or actually work with them) but it condones bullying. A teacher admitted to acknowledging the bullying of a disabled student yet did nothing about it. This school is a disgrace to education. Soon, the school boards will catch up to them. If you have the option to send your student elsewhere, I recommend you do so.
Posted by a community member on 12/12/2022My son is in 6th grade and in the band program. He absolutely loves this school. The staff is extremely friendly and goes out of their way to help you with any concerns you might have.
Posted by a parent on 12/6/2016My Daughter is in her second year at Myrtle Grove Middle and I will say she will not be going there for a 3rd. The school is way overcrowded, bullying goes on, gangs. After many complaints we still face the same problems.I have not been able to get any help from the assistant principal, the guidance counselor. They pretend oh yes we will fix that...they dont....Beware. Most of the teachers have no control over thier students and they end up learning nothing. Lunch food is cold.
Posted by a parent on 4/6/2012I went to this school all three years. The teachers vary some actually care and know the subject they teach and some have no idea and don't help. This schoolnis very overcrowded and the lunch is very low quality with low variety. Bullying has quieted down since my first year to my last and the guidance counselors are very nice and helpful.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe overall experience I’ve had at this school has been negative. Students are rude, disrespectful, and even cruel to those with differing interests, looks, personalities, beliefs, political views, etc. They will be more than likely outcasted and made fun of. They (students) are openly racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, etc. and it is never addressed. Offensive and degrading slurs are openly used by the student body, with little to no action taken. It isn’t even reported, but even then, I have little belief that anything would be handled. Teachers will not hesitate to bring their political beliefs and opinions into the classroom, which will then blow up into an entire debate where kids will gang up on another student just because they have a different political view. Once again, very little is done about these issues. Teachers will over-assign homework and overwork their students, then wonder why grades are dropping. Bullying is such a major issue throughout the school, especially in 6th-8th grade. Rumors spread unbelievably quick and they do not die down. Once more, the staff do not do anything about bullying. You get prayed over and that’s it. Maybe an after school. It got so bad that I know students who had their parents pull them out, due to how serious the bullying got.Punishments are handed out unfairly, you could get an afterschool for asking someone a question. When you try to explain that, you’re told off for back talking. Teachers are stubborn and do not listen to their students when they try to present a genuine concern and / or issue. Instead of punishing those breaking genuine issues within the dress code, they go after those wearing patterned jackets (stripes, dots, etc. No logos.) Field trips are wildly unorganized and somewhat miserable, rather than being fun and a chance to learn outside of the usual environment of a classroom. Transportation is not organized and often rely on parent volunteers. It’s more of a minor thing, but still an issue. Overall, this is a school that has destroyed me and ruined any faith I once held. If you don’t fit in with the students at the school, then it will be a very tough time for you. I would not recommend this school.Other Review6mo ago - Cape Fear Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageCape Fear Academy has been an integral part of my daughters education. The overall experience at this school has been fantastic. We have attended 7 years so far and plan to continue until graduation. I would recommend CFA to any family who wants the best for their children.Parent Review1mo ago - College Road Early Childhood Center
