Read what parents are saying about Williford ElementaryI am concerned about the safety of the children in a school where mouse droppings are present as well as mice run around in the classroom. Not only is the unsanitary environment a major concern but also the safety of the children and staff being exposed to these rodents and droppings left behind. Staff should not have to deal with cleaning up droppings in their classrooms. This is an issue that should be not be brushed off or disregarded, but instead addressed with the appropriate personnel trained in infestation control.
Posted by a community member on 2/14/2024My granddaughter is a Special Needs child. She has attended Williford for three years. Yesterday was graduation day for her. I am compelled to write a tribute to this school, its staff, and the principal. We love this school and its loving, caring staff. Ms. Little is our little girl's teacher, I understand she has two degrees in teaching, one a master's in special education. Ms, Little, her aides, and the special needs support staff has helped our child with her low muscle tone. She now climbs rock walls and runs laps. She was socially distanced. Today, she is a social butterfly. Last, she did not speak coherently, until this year. Today, she speaks clearly and in full sentences. Academically, she knows her alphabet, numbers to 100. She understands the concept of 1000's. Loves anything mechanical, biological, and the world around her, She is starting to read. All of Ms. Little's parents were able to participate in her video classes each day and watch the progress each child made. We, the parents are being educated on our children's special needs with ways to encourage growth. I don't know if this website has been updated recently; but, the reviews are out of date. I know the principal has changed. I want to update it with this salute:Rocky Mount has a priceless secret tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, Alcock Park—Williford Elementary School. Within its confines, teachers are dedicated to training up the children in their classes to read, write, and do arithmetic. Essential skills to succeed in life. They exhibit optimism and respect for each child's needs and personality, which are carefully cultivated. Mr. Shackelford, the principal, is an articulate and able spokesman. He knows his staff is exceptional and compliments their love of teaching and the children in their care. He represents Williford with grace, and, speaks with pride of his team and student body.Written in appreciation and love,Charlotte Sachtjen, a proud grandmother
Posted by a parent on 5/28/2021I am a teacher at Williford. I love my school. The staff is great. The students are great. We are making great gains with testing. I invite you to visit.
Posted by a teacher on 7/17/2014my school is great about making a positive change that will impact all the students lives in a way which will benefit them and society as a whole. trying to make a positive dent on the world society!
Posted by a parent on 4/29/2014Very poor school the leadership here is ridiculous. my child had an incident with another student where the student pushed him and I was told that he gave a high-five to the other student. The teachers only follow behind their leader so the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I have been told that my son's teacher had said things to him that were very much out of place. You ask for a conference and the principle says what issue are you having. Whaat???

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI can't overstate how much my sons have benefited from their time at Faith Christian School. They have grown both academically and in their character through the interactions with staff, faculty, and fellow students. Specialized classes and electives are available at all levels. (We started in 4th grade, so I can't speak to the lower grades.) Both of my children had special needs at points during their enrollment, and the faculty/staff went above and beyond to help them and offer needed accommodations without making them feel singled out. In summary, we are thankful for the Christian environment and academic excellence at FCS both of which are reinforced by quality faculty and staff.Parent Review8mo ago - Our Lady Perpetual Help Cath School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school traumatized me in every way possible. It is horrible. The students are all very self absorbed and the whole atmosphere is very unwelcoming. One student drew a swastika on the bathroom stall and said racial slurs to me. The teachers, alike the students, are ignorant and horrid. I was bullied by my English teacher, who was the principal’s daughter, for all three years that I attended this school. I would not waste my money at this place if I were you.Student Review1y ago - Englewood Baptist Weekday School
