Read what parents are saying about Powell ElementaryI'm so thankful for this school. It is a small, close knit school and each year it just keeps getting better and better. The staff cares deeply about the children and families and the future success of the school.

Posted by a parent on 9/4/2018My children have had a great experience. They both enjoy and are excited to attend school each day which is important to me because I want them to develop a love for continuous learning. They have done very well on the EOG's eventhough I'm not a big fan of all the testing students have to do these days. I'm also glad my kids have the opportunity to explore so many interests at the elementary level.
Posted by a parent on 8/30/2018We have enjoyed the new Play theme a lot. We love that this school is small and has a small community and family feel. Our child loves the domains and electives, including dance, drama, coding, engineering, and music. We are excited that the school is learning about Conscious Discipline. The librarian is constantly getting funded for Donor's Choose projects which add great new books to the library and supplies to electives. When you reach out to teachers and staff, they are always willing to work with you.
Posted by a parent on 3/16/2018Students who cause problems consistently are not effectively disciplined. Many times the so called discipline involves punishing the who class for something a few kids did - sometimes lessons are shortened or skipped. The school used to be good but has declined. My now 5th grader started kindergarten here...my 5 year old will not be going here because of how bad it has gotten

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is a top caliber school. We came from a top private in this area so we can make a direct comparison. The teachers are kind and nurturing and are expert in their age group/topic. They are in a word amazing! My children have blossomed this year! They have gain so much self confidence and it is reflected in their academic and extracurricular works.Strong academic with opportunities to develop their talents through the electives. Rich arts and science curriculum! Orchestra starting in 1st grade, band in 3rd, theater, botany, coding, dance, photography, AIG and so much more. They have many activities for the whole family to foster a sense of community. We had one in which we shared a meal then break into small group to get to know each other while the kids enjoy some time. We had our “Hunter around the world” that was a total success.Very active PTA working hard to better the school. Very inclusive environment. I like that they always find a way for all kids to be able to participate in all that is happening at school whether it is a coat drive for the friends that need one, holiday basket, parents donating extra to ensure that all kids have the grade level shirt or go on a trip. The parents through the PTA make sure that our high caliber teachers feel appreciated. The principal and assistant principal know the kids, are approachable and seem to enjoy their job. They make themselves available promptly to meet with parents when requested.Very pleasant office staff. All are welcome here. We love the school.Parent Review1y ago - Joyner Elementary

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter is currently in Kindergarten at Joyner and we have enjoyed the school community and especially her teachers. They are experienced and helpful at all stages. The Spanish daily class is a plus and my child has learned so much already - including how to read and write. We are very happy that she is attending Joyner and look forward to her continuing her elementary education there.Parent Review4y ago - Poe Elementary

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy children are thriving with the small class sizes, and they know everyone in this tight-knit community. They look forward to exploring their interests every day — trying tap dancing, competing I. science Olympiad, reading classic mysteries, learning Spanish, or perfecting their clay sculpture techniques. My third grader is reading Peter Pan, which is a favorite of mine. My older two are benefitting from the terrific AIG teacher. She is excellent. School events are fun and engaging, whether it’s family bowling or doing experiments with the teachers.Parent Review1y ago - Raleigh Christian Academy
