Initially, the first two years were good, but lately, I have noticed that the school standards have not been up to par. I haven't seen any improvement in the children's studies and I believe that the teachers need to focus more on the students' academics. Additionally, there have been no parent interactive sessions regarding student progress

When brought to the attention of higher powers, complaints about teacher wrong doing is swept aside and principle finds a way to place full blame on student. If you care about your child, do not send them here.I totally agree with this review! That happens to my kid... Everything I want to say is here. If your kis is smart this could possibly happen even more. Avoid this school.

Posted by a parent on 5/23/2019We've had two children at MES, the youngest now a fifth grader. We've had overall excellent teachers (the weakest one has since retired). My children had excellent support by the fantastic special ed team as well as the AIG gifted team, both of whom closely partnered with teachers. Speech therapists have been a constant rotation but current one is great. Specials teachers have been great, too. Compassionate, caring staff who have been invested in my kids success--- all 4s and 5s on our EOGs. Met with full support when we had mild bullying problem which was nipped in the bud. Involved parents, great community.

They meet children where they are and lift them up. They provide a safe, warm, nurturing environment for neurodiverse kids and really value inclusion of every stripe and color. 7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have had three kids in HDE, and each child has had a wonderful experience so far. Teachers have been great and have really cared about the kids, sense of community is wonderful, and academics are good. Our experiences with AIG program have been okay - ELA has been a better experience than math in terms of quality and rigor of assignments, and it seemed like our child had more in person classroom instruction with ELA AIG than math AIG. Homework in lower grades is minimal and focuses mostly on reading at home with parents, as reading with parents and having family dinner has the most statistical likelihood to improve learning for children (not homework in lower grades - no conclusive evidence it helps kids learn in younger grades). Math homework does begin to pick up around grade 2, but is not overwhelming. Concepts are taught well to give kids good number sense to think through the logic of problem solving, rather than rote memorization. Overall, a wonderful experience for our kids. I cannot express how disappointed I am with the current board and administration of this school. Test scores have dropped significantly and teachers are fleeing this school in droves.
