Lakeshore Elementary School

Principal is non responsive to complaints the communication could be much better. They'll contact you quickly about your child's behavior, payment for tech fees etc but slot of things go ignored which doesn't sit right with me. The bus app is never accurate, no accountability on their end in regards to this.

If your child has special needs, stay away from this school. They do not care about the academia needs of a child with learning disabilities. Instead, they bully parents into leaving the school district to find other schooling options. Teachers, both classroom and their special education teacher, dismissed the needs of my child. As a result, we are pursuing legal and state action against the district.

They teach above state grade level and it's wonderful if your kid is the model student. We have twins and one is the teachers pet and the other is extremely high functioning, academically gifted but on the spectrum. The teacher nor the principle wanted nothing to do with trying to cope/adapt to his needs and just sent him to the guidance counselor whenever he had a moment. We had to get the state involved and even during the conference Principal Grace was reluctant to acknowledge the obvious needs of our son. The state IEP representative was even taken aback by the way our sons situation had been handled. We finally switched schools as even though our case had been heard, we all felt my son was now being "black listed" and treated unfairly bc the state had found fault with how the school handled his situation. They never did miss an opportunity to email, text, call, or Factbook about a fundraiser, donation, or money grab every other day though....

It's hard to pick the right school for your child and this website helps, but it's hard to quantify smiles on students. Both of my children love going to Lakeshore. The Principal, Mr. Grace, does an amazing job of establishing a culture of positive energy that flows from their amazing teachers to the students. When my son was young we were worried about his future academically because he had no interest in reading. His 1st grade teacher went above and beyond and turned his whole way of thinking around. He is currently in 4th grade, at the top of his class, and even won a science fair. I fully believe he could not have reached his potential at another school or with other teachers that didn't believe in him. My daughter is currently in 1st grade and it's very obvious her teacher is making the world better one student at a time. We moved to Mooresville because of the schools and I'm happy we did.

My daughter has been a LSE for 4 years. Out of those 4 years, there was only 1 year where we felt the Teacher wasn't up to par. I believe it was due to having an overwhelming classroom of students. The schools tries their very best to place kids appropriately. No matter what, your child won't get 'lucky' every year, but at least at this school your odds are better to have more fantastic years than not.
