Read what parents are saying about Forestville Road ElementaryWe transferred from a school nearby because of bullying, 2 years ago. WE LOVE FORESTVILLE ROAD ELEMENTARY!! Wonderful teachers and administration. Very firm but kind environment. Strong P.T.A. with clear defined goals that engages and listens to the teachers needs. This is a Global studies school! The electives are Spanish, music, art, media, p.e. and technology. It's a secret gem in Knightdale. Both my children have flourished at F.R.E.S.

Posted by a community member on 5/31/2013Now that I look back, Forestville was a very good school for me.. Even though it's been years since I've actually attended this school I often still visit to check on it. The children are so adorable & I've never heard of anyone getting hurt or even misbehaving at this school. The environment is so safe and there is a really nice neighborhood across the street from the school. Some of the students walk to school. There are a lot of things at this school to love. The teachers assist the children all of the time. There are green lines along the hallways to keep the children walking along the right side of the hall to keep things safe & coordinated. "Specials" are certainly something that your kids will enjoy.. I loved it as a young child. Specials include Music class, Technology, Physical Education, Art, and Library. But of course, as year old second-grader, I didn't really like to read that much. Lunch is pretty good. There are frozen sherbert cups that are a big hit in the caf ! And as for the kids themselves, They are really nice :) I'm pretty sure if you're child is going to be in grades Pre-K to 3rd grade everyone is they're friend! Anything below they'll be quite selective.

Posted by a parent on 8/27/2012This is a great school! My daughter was new to this school last year (4th grade) and it was the best move we could have hoped for. She had great teachers and she loved all of the staff at this school. Great school, great teachers, and great administration! Cannot say enough positive things.

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son was transferred from a 9-rated school to Knightdale in the middle of his 4th grade year and it was obvious. The difficulty of his school work went down tremendously as well even though he was learning the same topics, in their respective subjects. I haven't had any major issues with his teachers, but I have had a few problems with teachers who teach some of the kids I watch after school. For instance, one little girl I watch DID NOT comprehend her homework most of the time, could not spell simple sight words, got 1's on most of her school work, but was awarded (yes, awarded) 2's & 3's on her progress reports and report cards. Why???? Does this make a teacher look good if their kids are passing, but can barely read and write?!? This is the one of the most frustrating things I encounter at this school - kids being GIVEN grades, not earning them.....and it's not fair for those who actually do earn them.I will say that I am much more pleased with the office staff this year though - much more personable, and if you're child HAS to go to this school and is entering the 5th grade - request Ms High! She is an amazing teacher, so far, and will try her best to prepare your child for his/her transition to middle school. I am very grateful for her!!!Parent Review8y ago - Lockhart Elementary

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLockhart is a wonderful school! The teachers are experienced, and can handle all kinds of students. Principal Zoller is very supportive of the teachers, and communicates well with parents. My child has some social/behavior issues, and has thrived there. Her teachers have taken our input seriously in the classroom, and given us great suggestions things we can do at home. She has lots of friends now, and is doing well academically and socially. Because of how the classes are structured, kids can do advanced work in the subjects they excel in, and get help in subjects they struggle with every day in their classroom, so they aren't singled out by going to special classes. They take bullying seriously, and work with the parents to resolve problems as they arise, rather than ignoring them until they get out of hand. Like most schools in this area it's diverse, which we love!Parent Review9y ago - Beaverdam Elementary
