This is probably the best alternative school in the state. Students leave their home school with failing grades and go to Western Vance High School and excel. Their Algebra 1 test scores are higher than the traditional high schools in Vance County.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is a great school. Teachers and staff become so involved and actually make coming to school and learning fun. My daughter and granddaughter were fortunate enough to have Ms. Fletcher she was an outstanding teacher who goes over and above for both of them. So thankful for her she is one in a million.Parent Review8y ago - Pinkston Street Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageA friend of mine has a child that goes there and has been bullied a few times and nothing is being done by staff....from where I am from, if my child barely hurts himself, im getting a phone call...apparently when your child is being bullied at LB Yancey....the parent isnt even informed. Im sick to my stomach for my friend because the "school" thats supposed to protect children from this matter is failing at every level! Hope your school figures it out cause shes not a happy parent!!!Other Review12y ago - Crossroads Christian School

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis was the best school for me, I'm currently in 9th grade. Best field trips, Good gym, Good teachers (well, in 2015) The academic levels are a 4/5. But other than the horrible school lunches, I recommend this school. Teaches children Proper languages, Math skills will rise from a level 2 towards a level 6.Other Review5y ago
