I don't have a child and don't know anyone whos kid goes to this school but I thought I'd share my experience anyway. I had to call the school regarding donations of school supplies to the school. After a couple of rings someone picks up and say "Hello!" but not in the friendly tone. I wasn't even sure I had the right number because it just did not sound professional like someone should sound when they work at the front desk. A few words into what I had to ask, I was interrupted and was told "Hold". After a few minutes my line was disconnected. Not sure if the lady answering was busy but there is simply no excuse to be rude like that. The worst part was when I called again, someone picked up and hung up immediately....so they thought. It turned out the phone didn't hang up all the way and I could hear a couple ladies speaking in the office . One thing I heard really clear was " I gotta get outta here" South Greenville Elementary, if a phone call alone is too much to handle, I wonder how you deal with the children who enrolls there? I never did get through and don't plan on trying to. To the lady who picked up that call, you need to get a different job. Your attitude stinks.

I have been very happy with the experience and education my child has received at Wahl Coates. The school really does seem to identify the needs of the students as individuals and address those needs by giving additional attention and assistance and/or adding academic challenge into their day! The staff has always created a feeling of "family" and acceptance.. Wahl Coates also has created a culture of character amongst not only their staff but also the students creating a high expectation of kindness and respect.. We love this school.

This school is not what it appears to be. Many students are struggling academically, yet only select students are placed into tutoring programs, while others continue to fall behind without adequate support. Student behavior, particularly in grades three through six, is extremely challenging and often disrupts learning. The teachers are making genuine efforts to help, but their ability to do so is limited by the lack of resources and support.

The school is OK. I absolutely feel like my children are safe when they are at school. Our family was very disappointed with class size (31 students in 5th grade this year with only 1 teacher, 25 in kindergarten with only 1 teacher). Class size was too large last year as well and we were hopeful the school would hire additional teachers before this year started. There are good things about the school--safety and good music program are the two that come to mind. It is hard to get past the class sizes for me.
