My children have been at this school for 4 years. In my opinion it has gone down hill. This year the schools main focus is testing and making sure the students pass state testing. If not they will be retented. My kids have expressed to me how overwhelmed they are and how the teachers do not help them when they ask for help. My student is having issues with one of their teachers and it is taking a toll on them. I was lead to believe this was the "better" school in hoke county. Now im not so sure.

My child is a student at Bill Hefner Elementary it was brought to my attention that my child wasn’t doing so great in February. The school has absolutely done nothing to help my child no one on one learning no level up program(Nothing) then last month that they have seen progress in my child learning abilities I said no wonder I went out to out school.com to receive tutoring spending about $150 a week on a tutor. The school is absolutely no help if your child is running behind, so I did not recommend this school to no one!!! it was a lot better when the old principal was there, he had held teachers accountable!!!

My sons went to this school from March 2024-June 2024. My son’s 5th grade teacher were amazing. However my youngest son’s 1st grade teacher was horrible. She was not a good teacher at all. She just gave up on him on the 2nd day. And the principal was even worst. When we went in to speak with them she implied that my family was poor and that what was causing my sons issue. She never even gave my son a chance. When i got the superintendent involved they told me when they went to observe that there was nothing wrong with my son or how he was acting. The principal claims to support all children but from me asking around it seems like children of color are the children that aren’t really supported unless you give into them. Which I’m not. My priority is my children and the success and saftey. She made my 1st grader very uncomfortable to the point where he didn’t want to go to school anymore. We have found a much better option. My experience at this school has been terrible this year. Last year, my child had a good teacher, but this year has been nothing but problems. Teachers have spoken rudely to my child and other students. If my child speaks up, she is ignored. The principal is unprofessional and I'm looking for a way out. I'm considering selling my home the experience has been so bad. I suggest that everyone do their research before they buy and move to a better district.

I have been pleased with the school for the most part amidst certain doubts as no school is perfect, and because there are some amazing teachers there. However, there's also an emotionally abusive teacher there that hasn't been trained, cautioned nor properly dealt with by the school. Concerns of him targeting a particular child, because his ego was bruised from the child's parent's suggestions to make boy's scouts more productive and fun have not been properly investigated nor handled by the school. This affected my rating for safety, accommodations for special needs (same teacher was overheard claiming he would "break" a child with ADHD, socio emotional support etc. I have observed the good teachers use patience, wisdom, affection and positivity when interacting with the kids, but that particular man is a major cause for concern as he yelled excessively, mocked a child and purposefully intended to hurt the child's feelings. The school doesn't use any form of technology to communicate important announcements and updates, not even EMAIL! This is very inefficient and frustrating for parents, especially when we need to know about school closings and have to contact each other just find out the latest update. The lack of technology and lack of effective communication was reason enough for me to leave last year, but we had teachers that were individually committed to upholding higher academic, socio-emotional standards and communicated sufficiently. However, due to the recent issue of emotional abuse they are hoping to "sweep under the rug", we will be leaving very soon and encouraging others to do so. It seems the Principal and pastor has several staff that are relatives and he's unable to be impartial in decision making that affects the safety and morals of the school.

I called to see what time kids get outta school Friday and the lady that answered was very rude.

The Lord led us to this school. Our 2 kids just started 5th and 7th grade here this year. So far it’s great! We care about values in education and about what our kids learn from not only the teachers but from the students. This school has educators and leadership that care about the students and not only their quality of education, but the quality of their character. This has a direct impact on the attitude and behavior of the students that go here. The small class size is perfect. The caliber of curriculum is far superior to that of the public schools. Most importantly, our kids love it! If you’re considering a private education, and don’t want your Christian values lost when they go to school, look no further. The outside isn’t much to look at, but like many people, it’s what’s on the inside that counts!
