We moved to East Carteret as parents of a rising junior. My husband is an East Carteret alumni. Our son had attended only private schools in Raleigh which communicated very well with parents, so we were spoiled. East Carteret welcomed our son with open arms. We couldn’t have been happier with anything except communication.East Carteret is attempting to hold students accountable for communication. While I appreciate this, I’m not sure it is working especially for male students. I’m not trying to step on toes or offend or make excuses. I’m just proving constructive criticism. My personal opinion is that for completely successful students, parental involvement is necessary—even in high school. Maybe some believe this is helicopter parenting. East Carteret does send a voicemail each week to parents, but all information is not provided here. Emails are ONLY sent to students. I was not notified my graduating senior was receiving an award on awards night. I did not attend. What a huge disappointment.THIS IS AN OUTSTANDING SCHOOL IN EVERY OTHER WAY!!! WE REALLY APPRECIATED EVERYTHING!!!! I was completely satisfied with level of education provided. I loved teachers and the “feeling” of the school. Top notch school!!!!

Dealing with the teachers and staff is a terrible experience. I have no trust or faith in this school anymore.

ECHS was a good experience and prepared me well for college where I graduated with a BBA. I look forward to my little boy's experience at ECHS in the upcoming years.

I graduated in 1985 and I had a great education at ECHS. After high school, I moved up north and graduated from business school with a 4.0 gpa. Thanks to the fine teachers at East Carteret for pushing me to do and be my best.

The current administration has instituted policies which, in effect, hinder the students' education. The institution has become a tool for exercising authority and stoking egos.
