Ben Steele Middle School

We had a terrible experience at Arrowhead. There are some incredible teachers, but there are also teachers that follow uniforn to the principal that does nothing about bullying. We truly believe she is the worst principal you could ask for if there are any issues. If your child has no issues with other students, or in general, you child will do just fine at this school. Otherwise, if your child is bullied, be prepared for nothing to be done and your child to be punished as well. (Or told you can find another school if you don't like what she is doing, as this is what she has told different students/families) Or if your child is left out, it will not be a big deal as well. Be prepared to be treated poorly and for what's happening to your child to be disregarded. Bullies are rewarded and can get away with so much. As the kids get older here, the kids that are disrespectful run the school. Even on the playground in how they are allowed to talk to the staff with no consequences. And if you file any complains about any staff putting a child's safety in jeopardy, this will be put aside as well. Very disappointed in the leadership of the staff at this school. Especially for the teachers we have had there that are extraordinary, because that's not enough to ever want to send another child to this school. We are not the first to experience the above, and I am sure until the principal leaves, we are not the last. The emotional damage my child endured here and the anxiety to proceed into the following years in not ok and disheartening.

I was a student there for 3 years. Middle school was a nightmare. I was bullied CONSTANTLY ever. Single. Day. Me, and my parents told the administration countless times, and the punishment for boys telling people to off themselves? Lunch detention. For one day at best. It could be that my bullies families were/ are the top doners to the school… hmmm. Academics are horrible. public school has better “college readiness.” I currently go to a public school after leaving BCS, and I’ve actually felt like I’ve learned for the first time in YEARS. And that feeling is so refreshing. The music and creative arts programs are under cared about and under funded. Most of the teachers are okay, it’s just the material that they have to teach is meh. The headmaster doesn’t connect with students at all. BCS claims that they involveGod into their teachings through the school day, this is false. You only really learn about God/ the Bible in Bible class or in chapel. Best thing I can say about this school is that they have late start on Thursdays.

Love the Montessori philosophy, however, I was very disappointed with our experience at this school. I'm quite sure it was teacher specific as the principal was very pleasant to work with.
