Posted by a community member on 1/14/2022Far too many staff members are extremely rude and disrespectful to students, and come across as unprofessional. Some teachers are good as with any school, but not many. Main focus here seems to be test scores and the children being respectful to adults that are not respectful to them. Many adults also come across as racist towards certain students and do not seem to notice when wrong is done to those children. 1st step here is discipline and not mediation and preventative actions. I am very disappointed in this school.This is not what I expected when enrolling my child.
Posted by a community member on 3/7/2017my school is southaven middle school and i moved to this school from Denver colorado being on the iside of this school i know what goes on. there is great dicipline and most of the teachers try there best to help every child succed. they do not tolerate bad behavior and try to get to each and every one of their students to do their best in order to promote to the next grade. I have learned many new and great things, overcome many chalenges, and gotten to know many of my great friends. Although teachers can act like the dont want to be here somtimes.. It is a great school and the principals are amazingly good.

He has no interest in learning about autism and how to relate to students on the autism spectrum. This includes high functioning students with Asberger's who raise the school's overall test scores. He discriminates against these students by excluding them from school activities. He also denies there is a bullying problem.

Except maybe, the school secretary is very sweet and tries to be as helpful as she can be. The teachers that go above and beyond to help the students, the ones that are passionate about shaping these young peoples mind I thank you! No books are sent home, notifications for events are unless the school somehow profits off it. The principal is an absolute joke. She gets incredibly defensive when all you voice whats best your child! For the older kids, they are going to have a rude awakening when they get to middle school. Many things have happened over the years that have made me even question my Childs health. It all feels pointless when no one helps you even though they want more parents to care.
