Southeast Middle School

My daughter loves this school after going to private school for 2 years. Teachers are great and she learns alot more here.

Ms. Jackson is a great! She takes pride in all of her students academics, activities and achievements. My son enjoys having her as a teacher.

This school has Ignorant staff, unaware teachers and has repeatedly showed they have no empathy towards to students they are supposed to be nurturing

The staff works very hard to support and care for all students under challenging circumstances. Many kids come to school facing big challenges and are exposed to negative adult behavior outside of school. Despite these difficulties, the school does its best to help them overcome trauma and negative behaviors while also teaching them. Additionally, the school offers free lunch and breakfast for every child, a free grocery store for families, and provides new shoes and clothes for the kids. Furthermore, they have resources that can help families get utilities paid, transportation, and faster access to mental health services. Despite all these efforts, some parents still feel that the school is not doing enough. Some parents can be unkind and create a tough work environment for staff, expecting them to raise and educate their children. However, the staff remains patient and professional, working hard to ensure every child gets the help and support they need to succeed. Twillman Elementary offers many programs to help students grow academically and personally. The principal is always looking for ways to improve and meet the student's needs. While I may not always agree with the decisions, I appreciate that they take the time to listen to me. I have seen them take my suggestions and put them into action. If parents spent as much time talking and listening to the staff and helping their kids as they did complaining and fussing, our school could be the best in the district.

Grace Chapel is a decent school but the current principal can be unprofessional at times and doesn't always address or try to resolve serious issues that are brought to his attention. There are several teachers, especially in the upper grades, who seem inexperienced. The current fifth grade teacher uses fear and intimidation to manage her classroom. She screams at her students and is a bully to co-workers. There have been several complaints about this teacher and yet she continues to work at this school without any consequences. The middle school has potential but there have been some questionable teachers over the years. Some have quit or been let go mid school year. This is very disruptive to student learning so Grace Chapel needs to do a better job of recruiting more experienced teachers. That being said, there are some amazing, dedicated teachers, especially in the lower grades. Grace Chapel also has a good church program, if that's important to you. Overall I do recommend this school. Proceed with caution, especially if you have a fifth grader. Hopefully the middle school will continue to improve.
