Read what parents are saying about Reed Elementary SchoolIt wasn't great at times and good at others. I served 5 years at Reed and a lot happened. The bullying that I and other kids went through was bad. Worthy of middle schoolers. The teachers really did nothing about it. We weren't really watched during recess. I remember it being very easy to slip into forbidden areas including the woods behind school. A gate that's not even locked sits out of teacher site. A curious kindergartner could easily slip behind the fence and get lost. The teachers s I said were GREAT. Besides the bullying thing of course. Also, kids were allowed to have bikes and scooters at recess and ride them around the track. That's cool, but no teacher watch them. I WAS RUN OVER by a kid on a bike and the teachers didn't come over even when I started crying and screaming. On the other hand, Reed had lots of cool stuff for us kids that we did throughout the years. State-of-the-art tech was available at all times. Each kid had there own laptop or iPad. The library was huge and allowed us to check out 2 books a week and we could come back in the middle of the week for more. Art class had lots of fun projects, and Spanish is great too. You learn all types of instruments in Music class. However, they took away computer class and replaced it with free time for some reason. The class sizes were huge and the Spanish room and Computer Lab were lost to this. But they never expanded! No, that was beneath them. Why give the kids room to move a pencil in their classrooms?? Overall, it was a pretty "meh" type school. Maybe it's improved. I don't know or really care. All I can say is be ultra-careful when you are picking between Reed and the private schools.

Posted by a parent on 6/29/2017My son is one of the few African American students and I must say they do and awesome job with my child. Teachers and administration are dedicated and highly engaged in helping my child to show his true potential. Nothing goes unnoticed and they take pride in giving extra assistance in areas that my son needs it. Any concerns that I may have are addressed in respectful manners. I Love this school and couldn't ask for more.

Posted by a parent on 3/21/2016This school is excellent. Compares favorably to the private elementary schools in the area. Technology available to the kids is state of the art. Accelerated program is truly challenging. Extra help for kids who need it. Great learning environment - really caring, engaged teachers, and an administration that comes down hard on bullying. Parents are super involved and resources are there when needed for whatever helps the kids.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAfter touring 9 (yes, 9) independent schools in the St. Louis area, Community School was hands down the best school for our daughter. They truly "actively" value the holistic growth of a child (academically, socially, mentally, and their unique personalities and talents). They are personable and take the time to get to know families. They also acknowledge that there are always areas in which they can improve so they often seek input/opportunities to improve for the sake of students, families and the community. And their staff is HAPPY. During my many tours, I wanted to know how the staff was treated/evaluated/valued. The staff genuinely seemed happy and that hasn't changed over the years we have been there.Parent Review5y ago - Central Christian School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI enrolled my two brown children here to learn about God and get a formal learning of the Bible the school canceled their enrollment because “the financial institution” they use sent me a different payment plan from what I was originally told about. Bill was super rude I did not see the love of God from the school. All things works for the good of those who love him Rom 8:28Parent Review1y ago - Forsyth School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageForsyth School is a remarkable place--where academic achievement and challenge are supported by focus on the whole child. Work in sustainability, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and community building is shared by the entire school community--faculty, staff, students and caregivers. The result is JOY!Parent Review6mo ago - The St. Michael School of Clayton

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBEWARE! The nepotism here is apparent. "Teachers" with no experience or background are hired to fill postions. The cost is extreme for what is provided, especially in the Early Childhood program.Other Review1y ago - A Growing Place Montessori
