Boyd Elementary School

I would recommend this as one of the best elementary schools in Springfield. Small classes, caring teachers, walkable to neighbors in Woodland Heights, but without the endless busy-ness of a more affluent school. Our kids are flourishing and excelling academically. I credit this largely to the positive atmosphere that encourages a love of learning at his school.

Terrible school. My child has been passed through several grades with a 2nd grade reading level. Anytime I ask about his reading level his teachers are always very unclear about his level. On the report card the reading level has always been left blank. When I asked the teacher, she said she didnt know how to enter it in the computer. I called the principle and she said talk to the teacher.

This is the worst school I've ever dealt with. They do not communicate with parents and use unethical punishment methods.

Our overall experience at Weller has been great. The kids are rewarded for hard work, supported when they need it, engaged and enriched by genuine teachers, and cared for on a community level beyond what any other school we've attended has done. Before Weller, our kids were bogged down with homework, unhappy and mediocre in their studies, and we had no desire to be involved but now as PTO parents, with kids who are thriving and succeeding beyond the score charts, we couldn't be happier or more grateful for Weller Elementary.

It's so disappointing how this school has spiraled downward. The principle has made several changes that many parents are unhappy with. Parents input is ignored and several teachers have either left or been fired.Subsequently, parents have pulled their children out of St. Joseph and enrollment reflects this showing a 30% drop in the last two years.They have lost their Montessori preschool program and total enrollment looks like it will only go downward.

My grandchild attend school here. The teachers really care about the kids and the administration creates a safe environment for kids to learn and grow. We love going to the family events and Grandparent’s Day every year! We wish we had a school like Dayspring when our kids were younger.
