Smith-Cotton High School

Our experience at Heber Hunt has been positive.

The teachers really do care about the students progress and well-being. Issues don't go unattended. The class apps are a great tool to communicate effectively. Great neighborhood school. Everyone is personable and friendly to all. The PTA does a wonderful job with events. I always hear people raving about the unique events they put on compared to other area Elementary schools. The children are genuinely happy and you can see it. The little things really do add up!

My child is bright and successful, but this is not reflective of the school here in Sedalia. Coming from another district I see many alarming trends. It's dark, with few windows, and feels like a prison. There is ignored school violence where teachers look away, and the administration glossing over these issues. My child has seemed to have progressed slowly compared to elementary despite being in an accelerated learning. There are few teachers who push these kids to succeed, but the next class period there's another who just seems to want to get through the day. As a parent this is a frustrating thing to witness, these are still young children, (5th and 6th graders) and their first experience into a rotating instruction is one where only half of their teachers care about their success. I'd love to see these kids back into an elementary school setting. This model simply doesn't work for these kids and it's doing them and the teachers a disservice. Research suggests that kids this young, even up to 7th grade, do far worse in testing than those in a elementary style classroom. This middle school just doesn't work and it's enough to consider pulling my kid out.

This school is the best in town!

This school is amazing. Its far better than the public schools in the area and the small class size allows each student sufficient attention from the teachers.

I cannot thank Sacred Heart enough for my own excellent education. I hated school and learning until I was enrolled in this school. And now my kids are attending this school and developing in academics, faith and Christian Character.
