Posted by a parent on 3/4/2018The school is great as far as the food and staff (shoutout to ms nimmerguth and ms paul) They offer free breakfast for everyone and you have plenty of oppurtunities to get involved, even though on a sad note bright futures is gone... but the students are out of control! I know that it's not exactly

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageUnlike the other reviews of this school, we had a very negative experience. The current Principal thinks she is God and doesn't like to listen to any parent or child. She is only involved with the special needs children and just "deals" with the others. My daughter was severely bullied her whole time here and nothing was done about it. I know about a girl who was pushed off a piece of playground equipment by a special needs child (broke he arm requiring surgery) and only a small suspension was given as he was special needs. Most of the teachers, IMO, just want to get through the school year. My daughter rarely had homework. Very little teacher/parent conversations even though I was trying to be involved. 4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy oldest is in second grade and has been a student here in early education, to young fives and through second grade now. We absolutely love this school. We live on the other side of Westland and have done school of choice because of how great the staff is. Every teacher we have had has made a large impact on my children's lives and they enjoy school. Mrs. Shepard, the principal could probably name 90% of the students by name. She is very hands on and cares about all of the kids.
