Our overall experience was disappointing. There were not many opportunities for any "extras" compared to the other school in Swartz Creek - leader in me, student council, after school clubs, etc. Technology use was very limited, which makes me concerned that my child(ren) won't be ready for middle school. Science experiences were limited despite STEM labs. My child(ren)'s state standardized test scores reflect this. Syring is very "old school".

We are on our final child attending Syring. The negativity in the atmosphere in this building has continued to increase. It begins with how you are greeted on the phone or when you enter the office...one often feels that they are bothering the office staff. There used to be a strong focus on positive behavior with the children. This has changed to lunch detention, yelling, belittling of students and more. We rarely have communication from the classroom. This has been a common theme from grade to grade. We usually hear from the classroom when money is needed or there is a fundraiser. Disappointed.

This school lacks in compassion and parent involvement. They make you feel unwelcome and bothered when you come to the school. They talk down to you and sometimes to our children.

I have a Child in 2nd and 5th and I have to say I absolutely love this school. The staff is very professional and curious. My children are very happy their and I have another starting next year!

I am a mother of an second grader at Syring. He is able to eat free school lunch everyday which would be convent except that the school do not provide real food. Everything offered is frozen, boxes or just plain fake food with no nutritional value just empty calories. My son and I take time to look over the menu options which consisted of work just as chocolate, pastries, strudels which that is the breakfast menu. Who and why would anyone think this is ok to feed children at 8 am. I'm very passionate about food. Mainly because we become what we eat, we r made of of the food we out in our bodies and we we are consistently poisoning our children how can we expect them to ever think and act right. This is our fault are children are over weight, underachievers, lazy and over all out of control. I would love to start a movement in this area to change the school systems out look on food. , how in mid Michigan where we can only harvest food 6 months out of the year ever be able to provided nutritional lunches with fresh food. I'm stumped and I would love idea and advice on how to change this epidemic problem in my children's school
