Tobey Elementary School

I haven't met a teacher at this school I didn't like. Everyone is great. The principal is wonderful. My children are being challenged and are thriving at this school.

I am not being hyperbolic when I say Kalamazoo Country Day School changed my family's life. After I initially toured the school, I got into my car and cried tears of relief that I had found this school. Before we switched to KCDS, my daughter used to cry every day about going to school and it broke my heart. After 2 days at KCDS, she was excited to go to school and actually came home happy. The school takes a very positive and child led approach that aligns with my parenting style. My daughter kind of marches to the beat of her own drum, and KCDS welcomes that instead of just forcing rote compliance. When issues do (rarely) arise, her teacher partners with me and approaches things so positively. As an educator myself, one of the things I love most about the school is that the teachers actually seem HAPPY and passionate about their jobs. I am so grateful for the rich specials options and opportunities for parent involvement. I was pleasantly surprised at the diversity and affordability and the fact that they offer childcare during holiday breaks and summer takes so much drama out of our life. If I could create my dream school, this would be it.
