As parents of two daughters at Hamlin Elementary School, we are absolutely thrilled with our experience so far. The teachers at Hamlin have truly gone above and beyond in helping our girls flourish academically and personally. Their support and dedication have been instrumental in our daughters' growth and development.Additionally, the administrators at Hamlin have been nothing short of helpful and communicative. They are always available to address any concerns or questions we may have and work tirelessly to ensure a positive and nurturing environment for all students.One aspect that truly sets Hamlin Elementary apart is the loving and caring atmosphere that permeates the entire school. It's evident that this is a community that values kindness, empathy, and support for one another. We have also appreciated the high level of parent involvement, which further strengthens the sense of community within the school.Overall, we are incredibly grateful to be a part of the Hamlin Elementary School family. We wholeheartedly recommend this school to any parent looking for a welcoming, nurturing, and supportive educational environment for their children.

Do not send your Black or Latino student here. Great school district, but they do not want any brown kids who are Latino or Black there. The worst offender was a black faculty member. It covers even athletics. Very sad their motto is "where everyone belongs" , but not for African American or Latino students. I unfortunately have sent 2 there over the past 10 years and it's the same story every time. The only positive experience I can give my child from this is the real world exposure to racism and how to be great in spite of it. Shame on all of you

My children have spent many years at Brewster and I have been so impressed with the level of education there. The care, concern, well-being and safety of the children has always been of the highest regard. I would definitely recommend Brewster.

Always has been a gem in downtown Rochester. Diverse population and neighborhood feel. Excellent staff in previous and present years. Huge relief at the recent principal change as the past principal lacked emotional intelligence and was prone to outburst at students and staff. He'd caused quite a shake up. Hopefully things will be smoother with change.

Not great. Some of the teachers are good, others are not. Communication is very inconsistent and it’s hard to know what’s going on with your individual students. Special education is severely lacking, not because the resources teachers aren’t trying. There’s simply not enough of them to provide what kids need. The classes are way too big for the teachers to provide anything close to individualized instruction. Instead of paraprofessionals, they have intern teachers from the local university. While it provides extra hands, these are brand new teachers who have not yet learned how to support every kind of learner. The principal is okay, the kids seem to like him. I find him to have the personality of room temperature soup. This is our 4th ever elementary school between our kids and moves, and the most lackluster. As soon as our middle finishes up elementary, we’re hoping to move out of the district or switch to private schools.

Great school, especially now with a new principal! He is engaged and involved.
