Read what parents are saying about Amerman Elementary SchoolAmerman continues to be an amazing school for my daughters (4th, 2nd, and Kindergarten). To start, every staff member we have interacted with is focused on what is best for the students. Teachers, support staff (including special education), and principal regularly interact with parents and the school is part of the community. As a Lighthouse School, students at all grade-levels learn about the seven habits. In addition to academics, this focus on character and leadership is a consistent thread throughout the school. The principal is amazing and attentive to parent concerns. In addition, the school has an active and supportive PTA. I really can’t say enough about how fortunate we are to be part of this community. This school is a gem!
Posted by a parent on 10/4/2023The teachers we encountered during ALPS 2017-2020 program were outstanding! The two new principals over this time were great! We liked the after school choices offered and the Amerman Olympiad team was well supported/trained by parents. They do have a weekly broadcast (with kids input) now starting 2019-2020. Thanks to a bond the Amerman building got many updates in 2019. A wonderful school.
Posted by a parent on 5/29/2020This school had no leadership in 2015-2016 school year. I cannot speak for other years. I met with the new principal at the end of 2016 and really liked him. I think there is hope with the new change. This review is for the school year of 2015 - 2016. The first grade teacher was so demoralizing. She stood in front of her class the first week of April and said "This class has learnt nothing so far" ". My kid comes home and asks me why he hasnt learnt anything. And whose fault is it if the kids havent learnt anything? Does this teacher think she is motivating/encouraging the kids? Every teacher is different and hence each parent's experience will be varied. I still label the school and the rating low because its the school leader's responsibility to ensure that all the kids in the school get the same level of education and environment. There needs to be standards (not for the tests only) but for teachers. The first grade teacher was an extreme bully to the kid and parents. I as a parent did not like to see her in the corridor or anywhere in case she started her rant. I never heard her say one positive thing about the child through out the year. Not one. Feedback should include positive and negative. This is coming from a parent whose son never got into trouble, is introverted, got straight A's and score "High average" through out the year. Recess: Its not a playground, its a bullyground. There is really no discipline or monitoring of any valuable kind. Lunch Room: Its not a lunchroom, its a bullyroom. The folks who are supposed to keep an eye on the kids at the lunchroom do absolutely nothing. I feel for them because they are outnumbered, but its a loud room, with tons of kids and chaos. Such is the environment. If your kids is buying lunch, you can cut his already short lunch time in half. The lines are that LONG. Class Parent Volunteers: If you are a parent who can volunteer, you get brownie points with the teacher & hence your child maybe subject to a slightly better attention. Good luck to parents who cannot! Your kid will be excluded from activities, oh and dont expect your child's picture in any class activity pics.Yearbook: My kids name was grossly misspelled. Proof read anyone? Needless to say we pulled him out of the school. I would never subject my child to this school ever again. Overall it was sad and shocking state of affairs.
Posted by a community member on 10/27/2016We love Amerman. All of the teachers our children have ever had have been caring and great. We are really going to miss our principal, Mrs. Madeja. She is the best and we wish her a very happy retirement. Our school is a better place because of her. She always put kids first!
Posted by a community member on 7/8/2016We moved from another district and couldn't be more pleased with the principal, Mrs. Madeja, and all of the staff at Amerman. You walk into the school and you can feel the caring and commitment. The principal welcomed us and took us on a tour and all of the teachers and staff has been so kind. We are so happy to be at this great school!

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers are good, their sports programs are good, and the facility is fine... except the locker room is nasty. This is a very good school, except the school culture in this school is really bad. There is an obsession among students in achieving high grades and taking the hardest classes possible. This causes many students to be under constant stress, but the teachers know about this, and are very understanding. Another thing is that this school seems to acknowledge that and hosts mental health stuff, but overall, it's very useless and a waste of time. The electives in this school are awesome, but there's some things you can't really change about it.Student Review11mo ago - Novi Meadows School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a current student at Novi Meadows. While the teaching is great, the safety, support, and family engagement is really bad. I've been punched and called racial slurs many times by this one kid, and I have told the principal, but they do nothing about it and actually put the blame on me for something I haven't done.Student Review1y ago - Our Lady of Victory School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageVery disappointed in this school. Old authoritarian school environment. Not a supportive environment at all. I have spent thousands of dollars on outside help recommended by this school to support my son, so they will "assist" him. They are doing nothing to help him. They won't even honor their own Accommodation Plan they wrote. I can't even get a response to an email from their "Resource" teacher or administration. Teachers are sporadic in their communication and fearful of administration. Not a healthy environment at all! I would not recommend this school unless you are interested in appearances.Parent Review2y ago - St Pauls Lutheran School
