Posted by a parent on 3/13/2018I have a child that goes to this school and I loved it, not so much anymore. Luckily this will be his last year there. I have been so blessed to have wonderful teachers the 5 years that he has been there. Unfortunately with all the changes that are being made all the good teachers have either left or are leaving at the end of this school year. The principal that truely cared about the students was promoted two years ago and replaced by someone that seems to have her own agenda that is NOT centered around the kids or have their best interest in mind. A couple changes she has made is getting rid of PTO, getting rid of parent involvment. In addition to getting rid of these things she seems to not have time for parents and I personally have yet to recieve one return phone call from her. Recently the school flooded with drain water during class hours. In parts of the school there was 3" of water and the principal made the decission to not only keep the students there but to not notify the parents. As a former member of the PTO and class parent I cannot wait for this school year to be done so that I can be done with Sheridan rd.
Posted by a parent on 5/22/2014Not really sure there is anything good to say about Sheridan Road at this point. This school has undergone dramatic change over the last couple of years. I wish I could say it was for the better. The school use to have an excellent PTO/PTA that did fundraisers, rig, end of year carnival, as well as week long teacher appreciation, and have a yearbookall of that is gone. There is no longer art, gym, library, or music. The principal that use to care was promoted (and is now retiring). Was replaced by someone that doesn't seem to care about staff or parent involvement. In short Sheridan Road is no longer a school that I love or promote. Two years ago I had nothing but love and appreciation for the school and staff. Like many parents I am counting down the end of the year so I can pull child.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePros: More diversity than you would expect in EL + they seem to serve kids with special needs well. Cons: My kids are not special needs, and are not challenged. RE: bullying: I have seen some teachers coddle bullies. I get some kids bully bc of tough home life, but they must find balance between compassionate caring without enabling. ps. There is a comment earlier in here about white bullies. The bullies my kids have face were not white, so a different experience with that, I guess.Parent Review6y ago - Mid-Michigan Leadership Academy

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAll of my kids attended this school growing up. They look forward to class and activities every day. Highly caring and committed staff. They really embrace our children, education, diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and accountability on all counts. Staff really provides tools are kids need to be successful as they approach highschool and life skills. Highly recommend.Parent Review1y ago - Riddle Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son is now a 2nd grade AI (autism impaired) student (there since kindergarten) and our experience has been wonderful. He's improved in every area. The teachers are often firm but very much care for the students. The classroom aids have always gone above and beyond. I've had no trouble advocating for my son or any issues with upholding his IEP. If there has ever been an issue where my son is hurt or injured I always receive a call letting me know what happened and how it was handled. As a parent I have been able to go into the school and volunteer. I've seen the teachers and staff in action. They genuinely care for the kids. The PTA always is very involved and constantly doing things for children.Parent Review6y ago - Cumberland School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have had my daughter in Cumberland since gsrp. I have had nothing but great teachers. Mrs Dugan, Mrs. Love, and Mrs Bush are awesome teachers. I have witnessed the principal interact with the children several times. She's awesome with them.Parent Review3y ago - Gier Park School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHaving my two kids go to resurrection school over the last 4 years has been a great experience. All of the teachers are very good and care about the kids quite a bit. My kids come home from school well-behaved and with lots of good stories. The way the principal and the pastor are so involved with each kid builds up their confidence in communicating with Adults. Overall, I couldn't ask for a better elemetary school experience for my kids.Parent Review4y ago
