Houghton schools has a variety of classes offered to the students which is great. But, I wish they would take Bullying more serious. They say they do, but, being a parent of my child that was bullied was terrible. They did not handle it properly, and, need to listen more closely to the parent, child

Help is available when requested, bullying is more under control than other area schools~it's a top school of choice because of that. Clean, well maintained, easy access, safe, and friendly. Imp

Posted by a student on 8/25/2012There are a few things I have to say about this school. The teachers are wonderful, but the administration is the exact opposite. The administration doesn't ever give students a second chance, unless that child participates in sports. Then they give that student as many chances as the student needs.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe just came here from a large school and my son, who normally dreaded school, is excited about going to school! He even does his homework without me asking..(who is this child? :-) The small class sizes allow personal attention and the office staff is beyond amazing! He loves math and with the larger school, he was lost in the shuffle as long as he didn't need help. Here, he has already been challenged with a "clicker" answer remote so the teacher can see if the students understand without the possible embarrassment of the student (nobody but the teacher and student know who clicked), he likes to be the first one to click correctly. The principle and superintendent are always available if needed and very welcoming! Even the students made my son, who is very shy, feel at ease. There are plenty of activities and technology is amazing. Coming from our large school (and brand new) I was happy to see that this beautiful old building is not lacking with modern day technological necessities. Graphing calculators were issued, computers are current, and anything else you can think of. This small town school was the best decision we have made!
