Hartland M.S. At Ore Creek

We moved here solely for the schools and have not been disappointed! Hartland middle school has been nothing short of amazing, especially when it comes to my childs IEP recommendations and accommodations. They also provide great elective class options that most other middle schools have done away (wood working, engineering, music production, ect) They also have a zero tolerance for Bullying and actually follow through with it!

I am a student at ore creek and I first came to hartland in sixth grade and it's been great. The teachers are great and give second chances. They are more worried about us learning the material rather than sticking to a bad grade. They understand if you've had a bad day and will give you a second chance. They are incredible. My grades have sky-rocketed since I've come to hartland. I highly recommend this district. Both my parents agree as well. They are willing to drive forty minutes every day just for me to attend this school because it is so incredible! I love it here and am very exited each day to come. Bullying here is nonexistent. Every student here is accepting of one another and we all get along. If any disagreement were to occur, the school handles it very well. The only issue is dress code. It is a little outrageous for the fact that the school is so harsh about it. Even when us girls in leggings are covered all around, we are still somehow still a distraction to the boys around us if we miss "finger tip length" by two inches. I believe that if we are sitting down for the entire day except for those five minutes in between classes, we are not distracting, and maybe it's the boys who need to control themselves instead of us worrying about whether we are going to get in trouble each second of the day. Once dress code is fixed and not as targeted towards girls, the school will be all around perfect. We want to be comfortable, as it is not our intention to be "distracting". Other than this issue Hartland is great. I am very happy to say that I am a Hartland student. Thanks

This school lacks in several areas such as essential classes. There is no foreign language offered until 8th grade or above. I took Spanish starting in elementary over 20 yrs ago (diff district). If the kids choose band they are very limited in what else they can do. They took spelling words away from the kids for a year or more and now all of the kids that were in elementary at that time are struggling with spelling. When the kids fell behind they brought it back in to the curriculum. I don't remember as a parent being told that they were even going to do this! If I would have been informed I would have at least kept up with it at home. The kids need to be challenged and they also need more support than they are given by some of the teachers. Some of the teachers have been there to long and have lost interest in teaching. Some teachers are young and arrogant! I know all schools have problems but I worry this district is in trouble. The school district rankings have went down in the past few years and I believe that proves my point! Please administrators use some imagination with the kids schedules and diversify their studies. They need more then what you giving them!
