Read what parents are saying about Flushing Middle SchoolThis school is outstanding! They have so much to offer here. My first year here was amazing. Teachers help you out when you need it, and will keep on helping you. All students are very nice and helpful here. I HIGHLY suggest to take your child here.
Posted by a community member on 1/11/2017My first year at FMS was an great experience it was fun which I didn't think it was going to be.I LOVE the principal and the assistant principal.Sometimes the kids are really snobby and rude but I don't let it get to me.The halls are a little slow in the morning but if you're looking for a new school FMS is the place to go.I am still a student there and I attend the 7th grade...
Posted by a student on 12/20/2016There are too many kids in the classes. The teachers only teach one way and if you don't learn that way you're out of luck. They take schools of choice and can't take care of their own tax payers children. I was very disappointed. I'm not sure if it's the teachers or the system. After 3 weeks I pulled my kid.
Posted by a parent on 10/4/2013We moved from georiga to flushing thinking/and were told it is the best school.HA! what a joke! okay the school it self is nice, but i think the million dollars middle school has done is a over comp. for the lack of teaching skills. the kids are snobby, they think there better than everyone, news flash! your not. No one is better than the next.As for there special education department they really SHOULD look into hiring someone who is willing to prepare your child for college, NO READING REQUIREMENTS, NO HOMEWORK,NO CURSIVE WRITING. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED to bring your books home. WHAT A A--BACKWARDS PLACE TO LIVE. i dislike michigan.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son is currently enrolled in preschool at the ECC that is primarily for children with IEPs. I am confident he is getting the support he needs to prepare him to integrate in a regular Kindergarten classroom next year. He enjoys going to school and has thrived in this classroom. I only wish that there was more communication on what they do in class and how he is doing, since I got spoiled with his previous preschools (through the GISD) providing daily information. His bus drivers and assistants are wonderful and I appreciate knowing he is safe both at school and while he's being transported to and from school.Parent Review9y ago - Seymour Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf you grow up here then you will have no problem, but if you move to Flushing then they tend to look at you diferently. I grew up here and thought it would be a good place for my kids to grow up, but I am now moving. If your child is above average in anything, take them somewhere else. There are no advanced classes here. My son is very advanced and gets bored easily at this school. He is not being challenged at all. It isn't his teachers fault, she is very nice, but she is limited with what she can do. Class sizes are to big. Also, punishments here are very harsh. If you sneeze and interupt the class you will be sent to the office. They expect every child to act perfectly ALL day every day. My son was once sent home because they thought he did something wrong, not because he did do something wrong. They couldn't even tell me why he was being sent home. I gave them 3 stars because most of the teachers here are very nice, but the disciplinary actions are rediculous! They expect perferction from 6, 7, and 8 or 9 year olds.Parent Review12y ago - St Robert Bellarmine Catholic School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe staff is awesome! I am very impressed with the level of education that my children our receiving and how warm and caring the staff are. Also, I am so impressed with how the "big kids" help the "little kids" out. I have never seen such respectful students!Parent Review7y ago
