Ovid-Elsie Middle School

The school is probably a decent choice for a child with no learning difficulties or struggles. We started in 6 grade and lasted 3 weeks total. The work load is so excessive. I was helping my son with his work for about 5-6 total hours per day and he was on the Google classroom platform completing it for about 9 hours per day total. When i reached out and asked if this is normal, i was told it depends on the student. I told them he is struggling with the work and was offered zero recommendations or resources. 3 weeks into the school year and no IEP meeting had been held yet.. they are extremely slow to respond to emails. 9 hours of work per day is ridiculous for a 6th grader, in my opinion. If one answer was wrong on a work sheet the teachers would return the work back to the student and if it wasn’t redone, it was a zero and it would then just add more work to the students pile that day and they get behind if they don’t do it. The work is much more than a typical classroom in public school. I would chose some place else if your child gets overwhelmed with schoolwork, has an IEP or struggles w learning in any way.
