Read what parents are saying about Young Coleman A. ElementaryI have met great people that want the best and work very hard for their students. The way policies, rules and issues are executed is a problem.
Posted by a community member on 12/15/2018I attended Coleman A. Young Elementary and it was a great school then.. Mrs. White was the principle then..I remember most of the greatest teachers from back then.. Mrs. Hart, Mrs. Hartfoot, Mr. Gardner. Etc..That's just a few. My daughter now attends Coleman A. Young Elementary and what I like the best is that everyone is apart of your childs education from the principal Ms. Scott, To the social worker. The best speech therapy. To the teachers..they care about the children actually learning as much as they can as well as in good timing. Absolutely love this school!! Ms. Merritt is an excellent teacher for children with disabilities.. Its just an awesome school. My daughter loves it as well. I believe she will always remember this school just as I have.
Posted by a parent on 2/11/2015Coleman A. Young Elementary school has been a GREAT asset to my child. The principal Ms. Scott is outstanding as well as Mrs. Keene (Pre-K) teacher. The staff is very caring and compassionate with the younger children. I look forward to my child continuing education at C.A.Y.
Posted by a parent on 3/25/2013Thank God for C.A.Y. I am a proud grandparent of a 4.0 G.P.A who graduated with the principal award. He was one out of nine students. He also received 10 awards, 1 trophy, and one medal. I am honored to say my grandson went everyday to C.A.Y proudly. He would cry if he missed school. The teachers, the principal, the counselor, the LSCO, the lunch aids, and the parental involvement was AWESOME!!! If your looking for a good school, TRUST C.A.Y!! I did and it worked for my grandson.
Posted by a parent on 6/15/2012I just graduated from C.A.Y this year and i think its the best school in the area.I've been there for 7 yrs. since Pre-K. Its a Pre-K - 5th grade school. The kids really learn , the staff and LSCO are very friendly and so is the principal, AEO, and counseler.I got a 4.0 throughout my whole school year. C.A.Y offers many extra-curricular activities such as basketball, cheer leading ,track team, academic games, art club , future teacher, 21 century after school program, Tutoring.... The teachers really teaches and help you. They have a lot of Parents involved with the school. They have Parent Meetings and Parent Appreciation They have PA GEL (Public Announcements), there very involved with the students and they really care for them.Althugh they serve hot lunch, i think its an OK lunch. I love C.A.Y. and I would NEVER want to miss a day of school. C.A.Y is an EXCELLENT SCHOOL and i would hope you like it too! I would really recommend it.

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter had been going to this school since kindergarten. Her first few years were great. Over the last year there has been a change in the administrative system. The new assistant principle does not care about the children and/or parents and shows little to no empathy. She has called my child out of her name and doesn’t handle situations well. There are still a few great teachers but some are the same way with name calling and not knowing how to handle the older children or their classroom. Some teachers grade your child depending on if they like them or not, totally unfair. If I could do it over again I would not have sent my child here at least during the middle school years. I can’t wait until this school year is over.Parent Review1y ago - Foreign Language Immersion And Cultural Studies
