Read what parents are saying about Westside Christian AcademyI am an alumni, I went to Westside Christian Academy from 6th to 12th grade. I enjoyed the unique small classes and school settings. I received the attention needed to succeed throughout my educational path. One thing that is awesome about this school is that it gives us biblical principles in a way that can be used in real life situations. The support that the staff gives at WCA is amazing, for most children it is the feeling of family and community that helps develop them to led a successful life. I wish that the experience that is shared at Westside could be available all throughout the world. If you have the opportunity to send your child there Do it! Invest into your childs future. -Loretta

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy names is James Coakley, Detroit Community in my eyes is more than just a school it's a family. Im very thankful for all the things the staff does for not just the students but the parents also. Detroit Community goes above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to the students. Coats are given to students in the winter at no charge, backpacks and all school supplies are given to the students free of charge which is a big help to us as parents. Detroit Community School academic curriculum goes above state standards which prepares the students for the next grade level and beyond. The staff is always available to talk and meet at all times with parents and students. Detroit Community School also provides free tutoring as well as latch key and aftercare for students that assist parents with later work schedules. Detroit Community School is A true blessing for me as a parent. I highly suggest parents look into enrolling their children in Detroit Community School K-12.Parent Review8y ago - Vandenberg Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe St. Valentine school community is a family. They are there to help your child be the best they can be. Being a Catholic school the whole child is looked at not just the grades. Behavior problems are not just punished and forgotten. There are consequences but the whole situation is looked at. First the involved parties are questioned, witnesses asked if needed. Problem solving is taught in the early grades so that the children can work through many issues before they become problems. Honesty and accountability are placed highly and often a lesser consequence given when the involved parties are honest about the role in the problem and their role in it. The academics are second to none. This school prepares its students for the academic and career world ahead of them. The grading scale is challenging enough that the students know that to get an "A" they have to work for it. Homework is often a product of the student not using their in class time wisely. Studying to keep prepared is a must but all of the teachers, I have had experience with, are more than happy to spend the extra time needed to make sure the student has actually understood the concept. The extra opportunities that St. Valentine offer help make well rounded kids. Starting in the 4th grade participation on sports teams opens up. 5th grade opens up leadership opportunities at the school like being a Safety and guiding the younger students. The students attend weekly mass and the grades from 4th up take turns leading it. This gives the children many opportunities for public speaking and getting used to being in front of an audience. There is also Drama Club that puts on two performances a year. Back to athletics there is also baseball, soccer and tennis. Some of the reviews have said outsiders will be ostracized, that is not my experience at all. You have to be wiling to get involved. When one shows you are willing to help out and be involved those that are already there open their arms to you. They aren't going to drag you into anything but when you show you are willing they are welcoming. I don't even know what an outsider is. The kids at St. Vals come from all over the Metro Detroit area many not Catholic. There's a diverse mix of students at Vals. That helps the students see that not everyone has their point of view and experiences and teaches them to listen to differing view points.Parent Review2mo ago - Gibson School
