Read what parents are saying about St. Francis of Assisi SchoolI can't imagine sending our kids anywhere else.
Posted by a parent on 5/5/2021So far our experience with this school has been excellent! Kind, caring and talented teachers and staff. The school has a lot to offer the students. My child is in the middle school and there is a good selection of electives and activities to be involved. One of the nicest parts is that the school is truly living the faith! The kids have the chance to make an impact on others lives through service field trips, helping younger students in the school, and community service/community projects! The principal is accessible and easy to speak with. The school is responsive and attentive to communication. Very pleased!!
Posted by a parent on 7/2/2018Today was the last day of the school year. After Mass, I stayed in the church and cried. We had terrible struggles in public school, and to see where my daughter is now, it is overwhelming. She told me that she didn’t want the year to be over. She has been so much happier, and her struggles with schoolwork before are all done. The school has been so supportive and open to us, and I thank God for it every day. It is such a blessing to our family. I want to cry again to think about how happy I am now.

Posted by a parent on 6/8/2018We've been at St Francis for several years since transferring from another parochial school, and are mystified by some of the comments below. We've found the teachers to be especially dedicated - we've seen them go above and beyond to ensure they reach every student and work to find individual solutions. I've been particularly impressed with the principal since our first visit - she is open in her communication and accessible for any concerns. (And when we've had them, she dealt with them quickly and effectively). Finally, the community is warm and welcoming. Our last school was nationally ranked, but nowhere near as responsive and the teaching there was wildly uneven. While I know some parents at St Francis are hesitant about newer teachers, we've had some of those; they've been - as has every teacher we've had here - phenomenal...which speaks to the quality of teacher the school attracts, curriculum, and leadership team. Our children continue to fly in their areas of strength and have made great strides in their weaker areas thanks to the attention and support of these teachers. We highly recommend St Francis.

Some branches might seems supportive though, It is not captivating to take admission in central academy especially Central Academy Sarai Inayat.Other Review3mo ago - Ann Arbor Preschool and Family Center

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageJo Ann (the vice principal) is a bully and demonstrates passive aggressiveness towards other adults, which creates a very toxic environment. The principal doesn't even respond to emails or phone calls. The teachers are nice and seem to genuinely care about the kids. If the administration fails, how can the school function? This place is setting itself up for a potential lawsuit in the near future with this "I don't give a care" mentality.Other Review1mo ago - Ann Arbor Hills Child Development Center

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe sent our son to the school from parent toddler through Kindergarten. He was a clingy toddler when he started at the school and is graduating as a very confident Kindergartener ready for first grade. Having attended Catholic school, I truly appreciated the school’s non-denominational focus on values and kindness. His class is tight knit and each child is encouraged to play and be friends with all classmates (“friends”). Academically, the school fosters curiosity. Our son was eager to get to school early and learn what was going to be taught. At the start of kindergarten, he didn’t like drawing or writing. By the end of year, his writing had improved dramatically. His drawing (and appreciation for drawing) had improved so much as well. The kids also did book pockets (take home first reader books) every night for dinner and bed. The class read a longer chapter book together, which they all loved. Our son liked it so much that we read it a few more times at home. All of the classes we were in had very energetic and enthusiastic kids. The teachers engaged them with creative activities, focusing their energy through listening, explaining, and routines. The school reopened with camp in June of 2020 to test protocols and ensure they would be ready for Fall of 2020. The commitment to their students and their development shows in everything they do here.Parent Review1y ago - Summers-Knoll School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy older child went to Summers-Knoll through last year (K-5th) and my youngest is still there (now in second). Summers-Knoll has been like a second home to them. They feel loved and seen and have always been super excited to go to school. I’ve never had a day where my kids didn’t want to go. I’m sure that is in large part due to the amazing teachers, excellent field trips and engaging projects. The kids spend hours outside each day and learn things like the “science of sledding”. Really that was a physics lesson (force, mass, acceleration) and one that was absorbed and not forgotten. I have to admit I was a bit nervous about the schools model although I knew according to research project-based learning mixed with lots of time outdoors is the best way for kids to learn (look at Finland). But as an academic the lack of testing and the structure was a challenge for me. However, my eldest daughter thrived and by the end of fifth grade was years ahead in math and reading at a high school level. The school is also diverse and really brings all children and families into the community. My kids have also learned about social justice, different cultures and religions. Overall, the school has simply been an amazing place for my children to be for the last 6 years and so I cannot more strongly recommend this school.Parent Review8mo ago - Beth Israel Religious School
