Read what parents are saying about Biddeford High SchoolBiddeford high school has done a complete 180 with the new principal. Mr. Sirois is involved to a point where he can walk down the hall and know every study by name. He is at the school at 6am and doesn't leave until well after school ends. I feel with the new building and the amazing support he gives the school, it will become one of the top 5 schools I'm maine. I highly recommend that if you go to bhs you keep a positive attitude, because attitude it everything. The teachers are amazing once you settle into the schedule and how they run class. The school is amazing if you give it a chance!
Posted by a student on 5/22/2014I've had the experience of 4 children going to BHS, one that graduated with honors. I've worked in this school. We moved unfortunately and the other 3 went to school elsewhere. Comparing the school they go to now with BHS, there is no comparison. The passion and commitment the teachers have at BHS goes far beyond the shiny new school my kids go to now, and the teachers there you need to make an appointment to see. My kids can't go after school to get help if they missed something due to an absence. The BHS teachers my children had were always available, no matter what. Another thing, my kids are relearning what they already have 1 or 2 years ago. They are supposedly in a top ten school (according to data and state assessments)where we live currently.
Posted by a parent on 5/3/2011My daughter graduated from Biddeford high school and I feel that it's not a very good school. We moved to Saco because we didn't want our other children to have to go there. It has a 5.0 gpa..what a joke. The school does not recognize the acomplishments of the students.Would not recommend this school to anyone. To everyone that attends GOOD LUCK!!!!
Posted by a parent on 6/20/2010The building itself is dilapidated, and currently under a renovation. However, I think the teachers are what make the school. I have found many to be helpful and encouraging. I personally blame the superintendent for letting the school get so badly damaged.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school says they have small class sizes, differentiate education, and can help kids who need an IEP. They didn’t have any of that. The pre-K class had well over 30 kids in it (with close to 30 coming on a daily basis), so it seemed like most of the day was spent in transitions (waiting for 30 kids to use the bathroom at once). My child was there for 6 months and they never figured out they could already read or do addition and subtraction. There were so many assistants and only one head teacher and they all had different expectations and reactions to behavior. We had an IEP going into the year and they kept saying they wanted to wait for a meeting to set up their own ISP until they knew her better, but they didn’t follow her IEP or agree to a meeting. They kicked us out after I formally requested a meeting because they “have asbestos in their ceiling and (my pre-k child) threw blocks at the ceiling.” No notice, just a call to tell us not to come back the next day. No goodbyes to teachers or classmates, nothing. The teacher even admitted she didn’t believe me when I told her what was needed. Even CDS offering more services didn’t change their mind. My child still has emotional scars from the experience and had months of nightmares. The things that were on her IEP were things that help all kids, like advanced notice about schedule changes, visual supports, and motor breaks. When we switched schools and they followed her IEP she was able to remain at the school without any additional supports than what she was getting at St. James. If you have a child with average intelligence and not a truly gifted child with the asynchronous development that comes with it, this is probably an okay school, but the classroom size is still way too large to really have much instruction time and they didn’t have all of the specials that were advertised like French lessons. Their reading instruction was also not science based. They were teaching the kids to look at the pictures to guess the words.Parent Review9mo ago - Notre Dame De Lourdes School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI graduated from Notre Dame School and my 2 daughters did as well. They went on to Thornton Academy and excelled in their studies and in sports. They both won the Student Athlete award in their senior year. They both graduated to the college of their choice. Notre Dame School gave them the foundation to succeed in whatever path they chose.Parent Review13y ago - The Master's House
