Pot Spring Elementary School

Amazing school. The teachers absolutely love the kids and the parents are engaged and supportive. I love this school. One caveat: Principal Kaiser is horrendous. She has no business running a school. Two examples:1) the school is so unsupportive of clubs that the local rec council has stopped supporting programs at Hampton. 2) our neighbors kid rides the bus, which usually arrives by 4:30. At 5:04, our worried neighbor called the school and spoke to Ms. Kaiser directly who said she was too busy to let parents know about the late bus. She needs to be fired.

My child has been at Warren now 3 years and has been consistently a positive experience overall. The faculty are very dedicated and they have a high faculty retention rate, with many staff members there for decades. The lower income and lower resources available to some students may impact their school performance, but the school community is quite vibrant and they have an active PTO, with multiple yearly fundraisers, events, and fairs. The neighborhood where Warren is located is one of the best in all of Baltimore County with low crime rates and supportive of the school as a neighborhood school, even if their children don't attend there. Our experience has only been positive, including under the new principal. I can't speak to why some of the others on this blog wrote a negative post about the admin as it is essentially the same under the new and old principals. I would certainly recommend this school to newcomers tot he neighborhood rather than paying for a high priced private day school.

It is a tall ask of any parent to trust a group of humans to help raise your children. Our children are our everything, and we aim to offer everything to our children. We aim to create a life where our children can thrive, where they can learn to be their best selves, where they can explore their truth, where they can be real, where they can feel safe, and where they can be seen.We have two daughters who spend their days at Greenspring Montessori (currently 5 ½ and 7 years old). Our daughters are seen. They are heard. They are acknowledged. They inspire and they are inspired. They lead and they are led. They are learning in such a natural, exciting, true world.The guides at Greenspring Montessori are indispensable. They demonstrate a patience for and understanding of each individual student the way a family member might. In essence because they are family. The administration and senior leadership are accessible, willing and open. They lead and live by the notion that “we are better together”, and we feel that as a family. Daily.

This school has had a good reputation but our experience has not lived up to that ideal. The school struggles with discipline which is affecting learning opportunities for all the students. Recent events at the school have brought to light that the school has not put in place effective procedures for handling student behavioral issues.
