Grace Episcopal Day School

There is a mean girl culture that is rampant at the school and it is well known throughout the Kensington community. Many families of past generations who went there say the same thing about the bullying that is allowed to happen and remains unchecked. It is an unwelcoming environment from parents, and the Principle had done nothing about, but seems to favor the primary PTA clique that runs the school. Sadly, the mean girls are just like their parents and it's learned behavior. Unfortunately, the teachers or administration are not redirecting this bad behavior when they see it. It's so ironic they proclaim to value the 4 C's to include compassion, when they actually place no value on those virtues by allowing bullying to spread rampant. There is no doubt families will be removing their funding due to the administration looking the other way.

While the education is good, they are entirely too harsh and unfair in how they punish young children. The downside of a private school is they ultimately care more about money than the health of the children.

Not always safe, there is bulling and as a parent my daughter complained in middle school about bullying. The principal asked to have empathy for the bullies - there parents being out of the country - they were foreign exchange. Of course, I did not have empathy for those mean girls.While the last headmistress who es a nun was great, the current one is mercenary and only looking for star power (Katie Ledecky).I am mbkvalent. Class size was fine. Curriculum fine. An art teacher in middle school was absolutely useless.

I am a current parent at Grace. The school is a wonderful community that offers children a place to thrive. It is a hidden gem in the world of independent schools of the DMV. The tone for this caring community starts with its Head of School -Jennifer Danish who is actively engaged with the children and it cascades throughout the faculty. GEDS is also a community that brings families together.

I love this school so much since it's a trilingual school once you reach 6th grade. The after school activities include theatre, basketball, volleyball, chess, running, swimming, soccer... The bus drivers are very nice towards everyone and if you have after school activities, you get picked up at 5:30.
