Read what parents are saying about Northwestern High SchoolTo much recorded fights putting up on social media and also way to many kids sell drugs there as soon as you walk into the building you can smell it and I am there almost everyday the sadest part is the staff do not care they are great on putting on a show but in reality they can care less if your child dies from drugs. This is so sad why become counselors if that’s not the job you want. And lastly they don’t have enough security guards to help monitor the drugs that’s going on and that school. If you’re thinking about bringing your child there, don’t they do not care. They couldn’t care less about mental needs.
Posted by a parent on 1/8/2024The school is ran terribly. Theres fights everyday with students skipping and roaming the hallways everyday. There's students here who are talented but aren't able to demonstrate it in this school. I have a spanish teacher who just puts random grades without checking the actual assignment. Overall this school is somewhere you shouldn't send your kids too. School is in a very low income area aswell. The positive side of this school is their VPA program as they offer programs with teachers who are willing to work their students. Sometimes the security even befriends students and even helps students skip class. The most common skipping area is the field, students smoke their and I heard rumors that students get robbed at the field.
Posted by a student on 12/1/2021I would recommend this school for the Visual and Performing Arts Program. The teachers care about the students and work very hard to create a professional arts experience for them. The top students from this program are attending and graduating from top school in the country with good scholarships. Students have private lessons and lots of help perfecting their craft.
Posted by a community member on 5/26/2021The school is badly run, from the top down. The principal sets the tone with an authoritarian culture. Systemic problems are not addressed. The main virtue of the school is supposed to be its visual and performing arts program, but it is not adequately supported. Some of the teachers are great but there is little support from the administration for creative teaching or real learning.
Posted by a parent on 2/1/2020I enjoyed the school and the ability to teach the students however, there is no rating that I could give the school that would be above 1 star. Its a disaster and the generation is lost. There is a lost of institutional control and its depressing. The students have no aspirations and their dreams are extremely unrealistic. If you are reading and writing at a 7th grade level and you are supposed to be in 11th grade and you have Georgetown aspirations in unrealistic and a false dream.

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHi, I'm dad of Pre -K student. This school have very weak management and they give me wrong information about my son.we went back home for our religious trip. before our trip I wrote email to Principle and class teacher with date (travel and return). I didn't receive reply back of email then I sent message to class teacher on ClassDojo regarding that email. then class teacher said that is perfect, received email. After we came back from trip. he supposed to start school Wednesday, but he was not feeling well (it was very long flight) so I sent message to Class teacher insisted of Wednesday he'll return to class Thursday. I don't get message back from Class teacher, but I received call from vice principal. Vice principal call me and she told me that he not able return to class now because of his dangerous behavior (he try to jump fence and try run away from class) and consideration of class teacher. he is taking out from class. Student not even 5 years old. And how that will be possible taking out from class for year. I never received letter from school. regarding he been taking out because of that reason. it's very serious. I been multiple times phone conversation with vice principal I asked her regarding my son how can he go back to school, but she been telling me that not this year only next year. she calls me back another week after our conversation and she told me that now he is on waiting list, around holiday if others student doesn't come to class, he can come back to school class. After vice principal told me that he is in waiting list, next day i talk to with another school staff and. they told me that my son not even register. without register how vice principle told me that he's in waiting list? So, it's very serious how vice principal can give wrong information to parent of regarding 4 years kids student. I wrote email to principle on November 29/2022 regarding i received wrong information from vice principal. and want to talk to with principal in school in person so I can better understand what is exactly happened, as of today 12/06/2022 no reply from principal. He really wants to go to school, but he is in home now, when he see outside other people going and coming from school. he always asked why I'm not going school.Parent Review1y ago - University Park Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe loved this school, some teachers are awesome. The principal seems very judgy and seems to not care for children with disabilities. Wish they offered more services for children with IEP'S and had counselors in school.Parent Review4y ago - Rosa L. Parks Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a former student. The school was great under the management of Mr. Moses, unfortunately it is now under new management, which leaves a lot to be desired. This new management is extremely unprofessional and they have no intentions of working with the parents. As a parent there are no rights, you cannot ask any questions for fear of making the principal angry. As a parent it is my job to make sure my child is receiving the very best, with that being said I need to ask questions.Parent Review7y ago - Concordia Lutheran School
