Laurel Hall School - Hagerstown

Two of my children have thrived at Paramount, it's a wonderful place that truly builds a community, supports individual learning, and has a rockstar team of teachers.

Fountaindale has a lot of great attributes. Some negative community attitudes bleed through, though still better than many. One commenter stated smaller class size...while they report student teacher ratios of 15:1, it's really fuzzy math. Actual ratio is around twice that. But they average in specialists who give the teacher breaks or teach specific subjects. But at no time that I'm aware of, are the classes split up, or with two teachers present at one time, so that there might be an actual ratio of 15:1. All the schools and districts at least in Maryland appear to be using this fuzzy math, so they must not consider it unethical or a misrepresentation. Just mentioning it because someone new to Maryland might interpret the reported student teacher ratio to be actual.

My student went to Pangborn for school year 2013-2014, we have since moved to another state. I absolutely loved Pangborn for my child, they were excellent with him, ALL of the staff! Communication between parent and staff was also excellent! I have absolutely NO complaints about this school or staff. They did all they could to help my child and we're completely fair on discpline. my child had lots of problems with school but everyone was sooo helpful and never made me feel like i had a "problem child". The entire staff did all they good to make sure my child got the best education he could while there. I've always appreciated this school and do more so now that my child no longer goes there. Unfortunately not all schools are as great as this one.

My kids both attended Potomac Heights and I found it to be a really good elementary school with a small number of students per grade, low teacher to student ratio and a great community of parents and teachers. On the rare occasion when a problem did pop up, I found teachers and staff to be helpful, responsive and concerned. In short, I recommend it.
