Read what parents are saying about George Washington Carver Elementary SchoolOverall, GWCES has come a long way from what it used to be. Administration has changed & staff has shifted. Students cannot learn until their basic needs are taken care of and many do not have full support before coming to school. Of course there will be challenges, it is expected, but the staff do try to meet those needs and build learning upon that. You cannot penalize a school because the Board of Education has crazy policies, that is a county issue. That is not the teachers or admins fault. I have no qualms about my child attending this school - he has loved it.
Posted by a parent on 11/1/2021This is school is lacking in consistency with the students. My child has attended this school for the last 4 years, and I do not see anything to brag, boast or even be proud to say my child attends this school. The teachers are not teaching these students, they have more outbreaks of lice than I have ever seen, the children at this school are suffering because the County is "ok" with the students in this area are not expected to be anything but the minimum wage workers for the county. IF the teachers do care, the budget for this school is grossly misused or misdirected. Brand new school and no one cares about the students that attend the school. And if anyone thinks I am misrepresenting this school, please look at the test scores for this school for the last few years. This is so sad, because these students deserve teachers and staff that care about them and their futures in this world. These same children that are being left behind but passed along in grade, will not be able to graduate... not that this is what the county would like to have happen with the children in this area anyway. I wish this school would create their own initiative to get these kids the help they need.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers don't do enough with the kids. They don't put in any effort with the especially gifted kids. I guess that explains the low scores. They constantly beg for money for the school, but don't actually work with the kids. Do better.Parent Review7mo ago - Lexington Park Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI’ve worked with two Montessori and a couple daycare centers in my career. This school has been the worst I’ve ever been a part of. The original curriculum was a good one but now it’s not the same a lot of teachers aren’t qualified and are inexperienced on how to truly deal with and connect with the kids. Incident reports aren’t reported or filled out every time something happens like they should parents aren’t always notified. A lot of unfair treatment in the workplace and the kids.Parent Review2y ago - The Kings Christian Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI love KCA. My children come home filled with excitement about our faith and what they are learning. The administration team is amazing and truly give their all. The teaching staff are fantastic and care deeply about each student. The difference between public school and KCA is night and day. I have friends with children still in public schools who often remark on how the kids seem to be ahead academically for their age groups. I know this is because KCA staff work so hard to provide an amazing education for their students. In addition, KCA provides our family with a loving Christian community to raise our children in that I have struggled to find anywhere else since moving to the Roanoke area. I am so proud to watch the wonderful Christians/people my children are becoming and know that KCA is helping us to guide them to bright faith filled futures. Our family is truly blessed to be a part of the KCA family.Other Review10mo ago - Little Flower School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is my daughters second year at Little Flower School. I could not be happier with her development. She has excelled each year. She strives to do her best not only in her class work but in everything she does. The entire community from the principal to the administration and staff to the parents and students provides an environment that is safe and welcoming. The education provided to the students is second to none. Each student is prepared to not only advance to the next grade, but excel once there. The school offers computer technology course, foreign language. They have integrate technology into their class rooms to improve the learning experience. Next year my other daughter will be attending Little Flower. I highly recommend this school. With smaller class sizes allows Little Flower to provide more of a one on one learning opportunity. In addition, the teachers and staff care for not only their students but for all the students in the school. They know not only the names of the students in the class, but in the entire school. You will not find a more welcoming school, where you are greeted with open arms.Parent Review9y ago - Lexington Park Baptist Preschool
