Read what parents are saying about Hilltop Elementary SchoolThe ratings may be low, but I don't understand why. I've have had a pleasant experience sending my child here. Beyond thankful for all the staff at Hilltop
Posted by a parent on 11/7/2019It was a horrifying nightmare for my child and myself. AACPS should be ashamed of themselves the way they've run this particular school. It's unconscionable how they force parents, based on the area they live in, to have only this place as an option for public learning for their child only to set them up for failed futures when from the administration to the teachers, the learning environment is subpar at best and would be considered down right unacceptable if certain other schools in the same county were being run like this one. We pay taxes for decent educations for our kids. Where they live should not determine the level of quality they're entitled to in education and this is the best you can do??? Shame Shame Shame!! I'd bet dimes to dollars you wouldn't send any of your children to that school and maybe if you were forced do so as some of us who live in the area are, you'd not be so complacent about the severe lack of everything there. Don't believe what I'm saying?...check out the schools overall rating for test scores!
Posted by a parent on 8/13/2019We switched from private school to Hilltop when my child was entering third grade. I think the leadership here is fantastic under Mrs Thomas, the teachers are dedicated, engaged, and committed, and the kids are supported and encouraged.
Posted by a parent on 3/12/2019Terrible !!! Teachers don't seem to have control of the class . Total chaos , I don't know when it became appropriate for students to be able to run around ,leave the room , talk , play and eat in the room . What a a bad environment for students who want to listen and learn.
Posted by a community member on 11/16/2018This is a wonderful school filled with amazing teachers. The teachers are able to help build self awareness and confidence within every learner. The administration is very knowledgeable and always supporting the staff and community. The children are instructed at the highest levels possible. The children love coming to school where all their needs are met. Well done Hilltop!

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy experience with this school was something I'm very happy I no longer have to deal with. The community seems nice, quite. I don't know how things were inside the classroom because of covid restrictions we were never allowed inside, nor allowed to drop off a lunch or drink for our children if they had been forgotten. My child's IEP was not taken seriously and I was given false information about how often I was allowed to receive an IEP meeting. I felt as though I was constantly brushed off. The drop off and pick up situation is horrendous. My child was just left unattended numerous times to do things that the schools explanation to was just "Oh Well". In the county you don't have a choice, your child goes to the school they are zoned for and that's it. Unless you have money and can pay to send your child to private school.Other Review11mo ago - Overlook Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI cannot say enough good things about OES! The teachers and staff from the front desk to the custodians are amazing! My son is in Kindergarten and I was hesitant to send him to public school as I am a product of private schools. We sent our son to a local catholic school for PreK and my son has some challenges (ADHD) and that school was unwilling and honestly ill equipped to provide him the support he needs to thrive in his learning environment. Overlook is the exact opposite. The student success coach and teacher were in contact with me before classes even started in the fall and we were able to get him a 504 plan in place before Christmas break. My son is thriving there and I couldn't be happier. I wish more families would get involved in the PTA but other than that we are having an amazing time at OES! Thank you all for everything you do for our kiddos!Parent Review1mo ago - Point Pleasant Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have two children my daughter went from K-5th grade and I had a pleasant experience with her educators, counselors, administrators throughout her time there. Her little brother went to Kindergarten and his experience was exceptional the little boy who walked in there terrified a huge disadvantage due to covid with pre school or prior education. He was switched with no issue because I felt the other reaches personality would be a better fit and it was. She was patient kind honest and helpful. My son has so much more confidence this year. They put thr resources he needed into place and I am very happy with his experience as well as mine thus far.Parent Review1y ago - Friendship Adventist School
