Posted by a student on 8/15/2023Oxon Hill Middle School has transformed under the guidance and leadership of the new Principle Ms. Cook. Students and staff seem happier. We have long avoided sending our daughter to Prince Georges County Public Schools due to the bad reviews online. We have lived here 10 years and have only watched the schools scores fall further and further down. The pandemic has been the push the school needed to move towards a more equitable and technologically advanced future. All classes are using Google Classroom this year and will likely switch to a full Canvas Learning system in the near future. As a STEM school the science and technology instructional staff have risen to the occasion and teach students about coding, robotics and key coding languages like python and javascript. OHMS also is doing well with after school activities like basketball , Cheer, Soccer and Honor Society.
Posted by a parent on 10/28/2021Amazing school. Teachers are very respectful to students. If you live in Fort Washington or Oxon Hill Maryland and your child is going to Oxon Hill Middle, your going to be very satisfied with the school and staff.
Posted by a parent on 10/28/2021I would give Oxon Hill Middle School the highest rating possible! The students which are the most important part of the equation, are treated in the manner that the principal, vice principals and teachers desire them to behave...not in the manner that they sometimes behave. I worked at another Prince George's County Public School and the students were yelled at constantly. There didn't seem to be any active incentives for the students to be reminded that better was expected of them other than the bulletin boards that seem to have become wall paper because they didn't seem to be implemented. At Oxon Hill Middle they are constantly reminded in a loving a peaceful way that of a higher standard is expected of them.If a child does not succeed at Oxon Hill Middle it is certainly not the fault of the school.
Posted by a teacher on 11/21/2018This school has a great leadership and way of thinking. I appreciate the "kings and queens " motto it builds confidence in my child. I believe this school does a great job catering to the needs of students going outside the box teaching them the way they learn making them feel safe at school where they can Thrive and be the best students that they can be I appreciate the staff I think the school just needs more activities but I'm sure that a State issue

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have had a bad experience at this school. I enjoy some of the teachers. But do to the conflict with the Principal I cannot consciously send my child to this school and trust that he is in the best care, and his safety is being put first. Due to communication barriers there is no way Iwe can have an effective family to school relationship.Parent Review4y ago - Oxon Hill Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter attended Oxon hill from kindergarten through 6th grade. She excelled under the, direction of their teaching staff on all levels. The principal made herself available to address any concerns that I had. The administrative staff members were always very helpful.Parent Review7y ago - Rose Valley Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI will never undestand why this school continues to get such low scores, as they do not reflect what a good, sweet elementary school this is. My son is in 1st grade and runs to the bus top every day, happy and excited to go to school. His teachers have been kind, patient, very respectful to their students, and willing to communicate with us any time. Principal Kuntz is kind and makes it a point to learn every student's name and greet them with a friendly smile every morning. We appreciate the economic, neurodevelopmental and ethnic diversity at Belle View Elementary and see it was a real benefit to our son's emotional growth and larger life perspective. We're also happy that they Advanced Academic Program is now part of Belle View's offerings instead of kids having to move to another school to partcipate. The actual school building, classrooms and outside play areas are also very nice. I would strongly recommend all neighboring families to tour the school and talk to other parents rather than basing their choice on these scores alone. They do not paint an accurate or full picture.Parent Review1y ago - St Columba Catholic School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSt. Columba Catholic School is a wonderful, family-focused school. Our daughter will be entering her fourth year this upcoming Fall. We are very pleased with the quality of education, the concern and care from the faculty and staff, and the great sense of community with the other families. This is a great school for working parents, offering before care (starting before 7 am) and after care (ending at 6 pm). The School features a good variety of after-school activities including band and soccer. We signed-up for the karate lessons last year. The School features 10 grades, starting with Pre-K and graduating eighth graders. If you live or work within 10 miles of the school, it is worth your while to visit and see for yourself. St. Columba School consistently delivers an established and trusted private school education providing the complete academic experience from a convenient location to your work and home at an affordable price. Children from all faiths are welcomed!Parent Review2y ago - Beddow School

My adult kids attended this school and now my granddaughter attends. I am so glad that it's here! The staff is very caring and cultivates independence in the child. If you try it, you will be glad that you did.Parent Review1y ago - Word of Life Christian Academy
