Read what parents are saying about Middleborough Elementary SchoolPoor - the administration is more worried about financial gain and does not support kids with different learning abilities.
Posted by a parent on 5/30/2019Being a smaller school, there are smaller class sizes which gives students more one-on-one learning experience with teachers. The mood and morale of the school is so positive. The teachers really motivate the students at Middleborough. Just a great learning environment all around!
Posted by a parent on 9/17/2018It was satisfactory, because the teachers tried to build the students up, but sometimes the students would push each other down. There wasn't much parent involvement either.
Posted by a community member on 7/27/2017The lack of parent involvement is shocking for a non-Title I school, but I am certain is it because of the lack of good leadership. Parents are treated like outsiders and aren't made to feel welcome. Most of the teachers are fantastic and the kids seem to truly enjoy being at school.

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLearning: While my child was excited to go to school to learn, the school lacks good teachers. The classrooms are over crowded, having 1 teacher and maybe 1 assistant when available with 25-30 students per class with students who have learning disabilities and are learning English as their second language as well as students with behavior issues from being home due to the pandemic, how is it realistic that, that teacher can effectively teach that many students?Teaching: Many of the teachers at this school are relatively new to the teaching world. Many seem to not have experience with children of different needs and backgrounds. When bringing up concerns, teachers quickly become defensive stating that they are overwhelmed by the number of children and are doing their best. Which maybe they are, but that isn't the student's fault, that's the school's fault.Social-emotional support: In no way shape or form does this school provide students with mental health and emotional well being. They allow bullying to occur, tell students to just deal with it and really provide no counseling at all for students who have emotional issues. Their answer is, go to the school nurse.Special Education: That's a joke. The IEP chair doesn't take into consideration at all what a child with special needs really needs. They just assume all children are the same so therefore the same plan works for every child, wrong. They don't take into consideration of what the parents have to say for input, they constantly talk over you and then numerous time I received the comment, oh you came to the IEP meeting? Most parents don't care to come. Oh I'm sorry, I advocate for my child. Which then turns into retaliation from the school. I had to constantly stay onto of the IEP chair about when the next IEP meeting was because the communication was non-existent. Safety: That's a laughable yet very sad topic. The principal is scared of her student's to the point where she runs to her car after school each day. There have been numerous threats and vandalism in and to the school. Cops are constantly at the school. Family Engagement: What family engagement? The only way the school involves parents is if you are on the PTA. And good luck, that's an episode of mean girls/housewives. So pathetic. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone. It's horrible, I withdrew my child for as they deserve way better education than what Essex Elementary could ever provide!Other Review10mo ago - Hawthorne Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe educators at this school work so hard to make sure the students get all of the encouragement and help that they need . There is a family feeling. Love the opportunities for book club meetings for the students with age appropriate books.Other Review2y ago - Middlesex Elementary School

The school isn't coming up with a solution for the future so I came up with one. My children need to be in a Special Education program or have a one-on-one helper (specialist that specializes in their disability). So far, the only thing they accomodated for them was put them on a bus so they don't have to walk a mile to get to school, which I had to threaten a lawsuit because KKI and a Dr said it's a safety concern if they aren't on the bus and middlesex tried making us wait 3 months which turned into 2 days after i mentioned a lawsuit. (BTW they do not have a special education program and no one in the school knows anything about Autism.)Parent Review2mo ago - Orems Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have to agree with the 2014 reviewer, the principle is also just going through the motions like many of the teachers. They do not effectively deal with bullies allowing them to continue harrassing and physically assaulting other students. The admins way of dealing with students who make "bad choices" (thier words not mine) is to punish the whole class hence having the offending students peers to shun the student. This school is more concerned about making sure the school gets special funding. It is to the admins benifit to keep these students under preforming. Meaning- they get more money.Parent Review2y ago
