Posted by a parent on 7/22/2022(This review focuses on Gym)Weight lifting class is handled completely inappropriately. We do ridiculous "warm-ups" that take up too much time and are unnecessary in conjunction with lifting. The gym also requires students to have belts on as a security procedure but belts do not make anything safer. Deadlifting belts should be optional. The form for bench and deadlift are taught wrong. Hands should be on the outside of the legs during a conventional deadlift. There should be an option for sumo deadlifting. When benching, the bar should hit your equilibrium rather than your "nipple-line". The workouts are not as effective as they could be. The gym does have a variety of machines which is good and many weights.
Posted by a student on 10/8/2021Bel Air High School was a great place to go to high school. There were plenty of extra-curricular activities including Sports teams and clubs. The facilities including the football stadium and weight room are state of the art. The teachers genuinely care about the students and they helped me transition from high school to college.
Posted by a community member on 7/13/2016Bel Air High School was an excellent place to learn with teachers that cared about my educational development. A diverse group of students provided exposure to groups that I would not have otherwise had interactions with. Highly recommended.
Posted by a community member on 7/8/2016Finally a school that listened to my input with regard to my child and his progression in school. His counselor reached out to me by the first quarter just to introduce herself. Where other schools have a reactive approach, I was pleased to finally see an administration finally be proactive.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs an alumni of Harford Day, I do not recommend this school. While it did have good teaching and learning, my experience there was poor. There was an unbelievable amount of racism and homophobia. While I was there a teacher called home because my sister was talking about how people can be transgender. As a member of LGBTQIA+ Community I find this extremely unprofessional and offensive. As for racism there were times while I was there that people would be engraving the N word on the bleachers or using it in a sentence. The administration's approach was to show my whole grade a picture of the corpse of Emmett Till. Overall this was unacceptable behavior for everyone. For all the parents who may see this, I request that you look for alternative schools.Other Review5mo ago - Bel Forest Christian Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf your child has a 504 this elementary school is not for you. Steer clear of this 'Private Catholic School associated with a Church that does not accept Federal funding'. They are only required to follow their OWN rules according to an educational attorney. The school counselor does not need to be licensed in the state hence in my opinion, the lacking of qualifications to oversee the implementation of my child's 504. The Principal of the school and the Assoc. Superintendent of the AOC were both dishonest about the counselor being licensed but "framed it" as a misunderstanding, fact. The counselor converted my child's 504 into what they called a student assistance plan. I never signed it. It was never shown to me therefore I could never complain that it was not being followed! Support staff were clearly not counseled on my child's 504, in my opinion. They spoke of continued academic success however receiving a 'D' in any class is not by any definition considered academic success. Long short. I complained and my child was expelled early February however they prefer their language and that is that my child was withdrawn because the Principal and Assoc Superintendent with the AOC determined based on my follow-up emails that partnership is not possible. Page 6 of the Student Handbook. I inquired what specifically was said in my follow-up emails that demonstrated that a partnership is not possible and they did not respond. According to the educational attorney, they just have to "FEEL" like I didn't want to partner with them. They reached out 2 days later to say that my child was welcome to return as long as I agree to the importance of the parent-school partnership in other words, my words, fall in line, remember, it's THEIR rules. You WILL be punished for advocating for your child at this school in my opinion. Aside from that, the school does not have a library that I know of. One of the 4th grade classrooms is in the basement. Don't be misled by their 15:1 Student/Teacher ratio into thinking small class sizes. My child's 3rd and 4th grade classes both had 21-22 students for 1 teacher. Same as public. Bottom line. This school is not worth the money in my opinion.Parent Review1mo ago
