Read what parents are saying about Hampden Elementary/Middle SchoolWe had a very good experience with this school. Teachers and staff are always responsive and helpful. Everyone I know admires this school.
Posted by a parent on 5/6/2022We couldn’t be happier with HEMS 55. Our son is thriving academically and is excited to go to school everyday.
Posted by a parent on 1/20/2020Total disappointment in the neighborhood school. I had higher expectations and I feel totally let down. The school is not transparent; does not communicate other than about fundraising, and other administrative stuff. You have no sense that there is a leadership that is working on something significant.
Posted by a parent on 1/13/2020They are uneducated in certain disabilities. They lack empathy for unfortunate situations and try to throw your needs away like your a burden. They will only make efforts when North Ave steps in.
Posted by a parent on 10/9/2019We’ve been pleased with our daughter’s experience at Hampden. It’s a hidden gem.

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child loves going to this school. The teachers are kind, creative and have great class management skills. The academic expectations are high. I also love that the school is so small. The older kids look after the younger ones and it truly feels like a family.Parent Review2y ago - First English Lutheran Preschool & Kindergarten

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe are a minority family who attends St. David's. My son is in the 3s. Prior to coming to this school my son was in daycare and very shy. Now he is a social little boy who runs into school everyday. He wants to play pretend school at home and tells me that we eat our healthy foods first!!! I'm so impressed with his vocabulary, reading and spelling. He even can do basic math. He has been there for about two months and his growth is amazing. I'm already dreading the idea of 1st grade bc he will not be at St. David's. Communication, drop off, learning, and playtime is wonderful. It's literally perfection and my not so shy boy is thriving.Parent Review6mo ago - St. Thomas Aquinas School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHampden Christian School is a magnificent, small school that places a big emphasis on community (within the classroom, school, and Baltimore City as a whole). The class sizes are small, the teachers are creative and innovative, and the curriculum is engaging. The children have outdoor recess several times daily, year-round. My 3rd grade son has been a student at HCS since pre-K and my daughter entered kindergarten this year after attending HCS since she was 4 months old. The teachers work very well together and model teamwork and kindness. Through the support and creativity of HCS’ staff my children have developed a love for learning, as well as confidence in the classroom.Parent Review1y ago
