There has been a consistent decline in the handling of behavioral issues. Expect to experience anything from physical violence, threats, exclusion and bullying. It starts as early as Kindergarten and only gets worse as they move up in grades. The behavior is not only tolerated, it appears to be fost

Posted by a parent on 8/30/2013Great MCAS strategies help and kindness, Mrs McCartty is definitely the best second grade teacher I've known and my sons favorite teacher. Ms. Greene is also a exceptionally wonderful kindergarten teacher... I was so happy when I met her and felt great having my son in Deerfield School in Westwood!
Posted by a parent on 8/30/2013Not the best of schools for westwood. The principal alan cameron was unfazed at the fact my child was put on the wrong bus on the first day of kindergarten. If your child has special needs look elsewhere as they are not willing to accomodate.

They are learning what it means to be part of a team, whether that's through athletics or working with partners in class. They are pushed when they need to be challenged and supported when the challenge is great. They know what it means to be part of a community--and our whole family feels tied to that community. The teachers truly know the students here, and the sense of fun, energy and kindness is palpable the moment you enter campus. At DCD, the kids spend lots of time outside and doing hands-on learning; they have broad access to the arts. This school is committed to community service and public speaking; they champion kindness and curiosity, and they help students find their own way through disputes.
