North Elementary School

Worst school ever. I'd give it a zero if I could. Can't get their act together. The v.p. is a bigger bully than the students. I recorded her bullying. Both of my kids had an awful time here. It took 5 months to get my preschooler placed. Sept to Jan. Do NOT send your kids here.

Very good school. Great environment to be at also

As a teacher at North, I can tell you how hard working teachers are! We are not union driven, but driven by the needs of our students. Social media is often fueled by a few disgruntled parents who spread unhealthy messages. I highly recommend North!

I am parent of a special needs student and I have been a strong advocate attending multiple meetings and also researching and educating myself on how to best support him. I bring him to many appointments outside of school to assist him and have sought professional assistance on what he needs to succeed in school. After two years of advocating for the accommodations which three medical professionals specializing in his specific diagnosis recommended, I was told the school system could not accommodate him at all. Maybe this school system can help some special needs students but I was told by the school and by a director of special education that they cannot accommodate all special needs students. I respect that this school system has worked for some children but it an absolute fact it cannot help with all levels of special needs students.

This school has a very good reputation in the town. Unfortunately, it did not work out for my child. If you are not in the Somerset "in crowd" and your child is not a mainstream student, this school will not be the place for your child. My child had so much anxiety every single day at this school, it was hell, plain and simple. Since moving on, school is a joy! So many strides made and a new sense of confidence has been gained! The tone of this school comes from the top down and the teachers are all about the test scores, not about your child, again, unless you are part of the "in crowd", then they will make special exceptions for your child. This school was a completely disappointing and stressful time in our lives and we are so fortunate that we have moved on from here. If you are thinking of moving to Somerset because you have heard they have a great school system, don't believe the hype!
