Read what parents are saying about Maple Dene Elementary SchoolMaple Dene is just a lovely little country type school. Both my kids just started going there and its been so great. Everyday my kids tell me that school was fun and they’re eager to go back the next day. The staff are so friendly and always willing to help with whatever my child might need. I highly recommend this little school and it’s worth every penny. My kids are happy and thriving.
Posted by a parent on 3/19/2021We were incredibly disappointed with the lack of communication from this school. We never received any progress reports or monthly newsletter. We were never aware of what our child was learning each week, nor was there any consistent communication about the school’s events. We had high expectations for The Moppet and voiced our concerns with absolutely no follow-up from the school.
Posted by a parent on 6/10/2018The Maple Dene/Moppet School opened its doors in Pepperell 32 years ago and is a cornerstone of Pepperell's foundation, providing many of its families with a safe, nurturing and a high standards educational environment for children from 3-12 years of age. Families in Pepperell and beyond its borders depend on and love what this awesome child centered school provides to its students and their families. I speak from which I know... 4 of my 5 children and 3 of my grandchildren have all attended the Moppet School preschool, and 2 have attended the Maple Dene. It is a family tradition that has provided stability, a love of learning and many happy memories!
Posted by a parent on 6/6/2016I have to say, I was reluctant to "buy in" to such a small school, but I cannot tell you how happy I am that I did. My kids are both very happy and developing extremely well. It is difficult to put a price on having both of my kids say school was "great" ever single day after 3 years.
Posted by a parent on 3/3/2015We LOVE this school. The teachers really care about each and every child. Our son has really thrived here as they nurture learning as well as the person.

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTeaching staff for the most part is amazing. However, the administration seems to be inexperienced and in over their heads. Very weak leadership. Instead of focusing on building relationships between admin and struggling students and focus on mentorship, the school hands out mass detentions for the smallest of infractions. Punishments for small infractions have been known to stay in place for weeks as a means of admin control. it also appears to be an environment where admin picks favorites among staff and students. Lastly, the administration does not appear to believe in transparent, forthcoming communication. Things are hidden and swept under the rug to protect image, rather than pointing out problems and communicating solutions. I would give many of the teaching staff at least 4 stars. Administration would receive 1.5 stars.Parent Review1y ago - Varnum Brook Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI had two daughters go through this elementary school. We've had a mixed experience here. A couple of the teachers are known for shouting at their students throughout the school day (this is did not happen to us, but I've heard it first hand from other mothers). Another teacher would tell me in person how well my daughter is doing, "but she's a bit talkative... it's ok, we'll figure it out." Two days later, she's sending me a note home saying how the talking is terrible, uncontrollable, etc. I'd offer to meet with the teacher in person - and then in person she'd recant her story... this happened SO MANY TIMES. Teachers are inconsistent in their grading from grade to grade or even teachers in the same grade. If your child is not 'special needs' then there isn't much help offered after 2nd grade. I had to push to get a tudor for one of my daughters - outside of school - in the 4th grade. The teacher felt that it was an issue with paying attention, not the comprehension of the math work. After we utilized a tudor, her math work was excellent.School is outdated to say the least.Parent Review5y ago - Peter Fitzpatrick School
