Our daughter is in third grade, and she's had an excellent experience thus far. Homework began this year, and her teacher emphasizes developing a weekly plan for accomplishing the reading and math assignments, as well as special projects. Optional assignments are available to students who commit at the beginning of the year to complete them. After school sports, "homework academy," and orchestra rehearsals also begin in third grade. Our parent-teacher conference in the fall included our child, and we all engaged with our daughter during the conference to establish yearly goals and activities related to them that she can engage in at school and at home. Communication from our daughter's teacher to parents has been thorough, consistent and thoughtful. The district-wide art show, during which the town's high school because of a huge art gallery, featuring artwork for every student in the district, is a real treat in the spring. Overall I'm impressed with the wide variety of resources brought to bear to educate students in the district overall and at Woodland School.
