Read what parents are saying about Henry J Robinson Middle SchoolI'm a kid at this school and on the first day I was actually excited because I would be in middle school. But there is so much drama and fighting daily which the teachers do little to stop. It's not rare to see physical fights at recess and people vaping in the bathrooms, and sometimes I have to watch my back because anyone could jump me at recess. Someone brought a blade or a boxcutter or something like that to school and that scared me because who knows what else could happen. The teachers sometimes act like they don't care and if you report something like if somebody threatens to fight you the'll say something like "stay away for them" and wont do anything at all to stop the situation. Teachers also have a habit of targeting students and embarrassing them. For example, in my gym class, I sat on the bench to take a small break and the gym teacher stopped everyone from playing and pointed straight at me and started screaming. This happens to a few other students too. Also I feel like the rules are a little dramatic in my class. Like if you don't look at the teacher fast enough and be "urgent" he'll give you a strike and sometimes even recess detention. I enjoy E.L.A but sometimes it can be annoying with the rules. The other students at school don't know what respect is because I know someones dad who passed away and someone said "at least I have a dad." like have you no morals??? They will make fun of every single thing you've done, every family member, every pet, every DETAIL of your body for a few laughs from there friends. It doesn't get to me but I know a few kids who have attempted because of the school. A few kids who started vaping after coming here, and a few who started becoming bad. This school is annoying and never has anyone said they liked it here.

Posted by a parent on 1/25/2023I am a student at this school actually. My teachers do not help me when I am in need of help. For example, if I do not understand how to find something in a text, they will tell me to “find the main idea” as if I know the steps to find it. Second, the teacher’s honestly act like they don’t care about students mental health. They will tell students to wipe their tears and go back to class because we are interrupting the class. Also, in my ELA class, if a student needs to see the social worker we aren’t allowed to and he just leaves his students there crying. Doesn’t even care to ask why they need to go. This school really drained me and I even think about ending it sometimes. A lot of the kids are also struggling with this problem but have to stay quiet. I have also developed a hatred for my looks because of all the bullying at my school. Some teachers see it happen right in front of them and don’t really care. But once it escalates into a fight that’s when they start doing something. I see girls 10-11 year olds including me wearing makeup daily because we care so much about our looks. I know a girl who has light skin and got made fun of for being a white spanish person and she hates her skin color so much now. I see people crying daily and there are loads of drama and fights that teachers don’t see. Everyone is afraid to speak up because they know the teachers won’t care or they don’t want to get beaten up by a kid for snitching. Also the teachers put a ton of pressure on me and a lot of kids who are considered smart or mature. If we do something wrong or act less enthusiastic we get yelled at and told we are disappointing our teachers. Now we try to do the most and it feels like we have to be perfect in schoolwork and if we don’t get good grades we aren’t good enough. No matter how late someone is, you are never going to catch anyone running to this school.

Posted by a parent on 11/2/2022Very bad. I can’t stand this school and no one should ever send their child there. Needs a complete overhaul.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLCCPS is an amazing school! they have high academic standards and they value all cultures and people. Each group is no more than 25 students which allows a more personalized attention to each child. My kids love going to school every day. It is a great community that we will miss when our kids finish middle school.Parent Review1y ago - S Christa Mcauliffe Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son is currently in Kindergarten, he has entered Pre-K. He loves school, teachers, janitors and D. Mrs Anderson. They are attentive and always willing to help our children's progress. They have an application for direct communication with the teacher that helps us a lot on a daily basis. The school is always clean and organized. I recommend this school. my daughter will go to Pre-K 2024-25 and certainly my youngest daughter will also study there…#teamMcAuliffeParent Review3mo ago - Charlotte M Murkland Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have ten years of public school teaching experience K-12 and Greenhalge Elementary School in Lowell, MA is by far the best! How do I love thee Greenhalge Elementary? Let me count the ways. When my child has an issue, not only do they address it, they create a focus group run by one of the school’s amazing social workers, keep in contact with updates, send home handouts with suggestions and worksheets, create and implement a plan to fix the problem. If the issue persists they put you in contact with a therapy connect agency that works tirelessly until you find the perfect therapist for your child. Classrooms have multiple teachers and support. My child was placed in one of three reading groups perfect for her level. She is reading everything I put in front of her and she is in second grade!!!! My Kindergartener is also reading. These amazing teachers are dealing with 39% ESL and challenging my child at the same time. I feel heard and welcomed by the principal and supporting staff. I am in the PTO and site council and all my suggestions have been heard and most of them have already happened. We are getting a new playground, implementing a recycling program, choosing assembly guests, creating monthly community events, and it’s fun. We even got the Mayor to come to one of our events! We have a free dental and vision program as well as free breakfast and lunch. If you need before school or afterschool programs they will find you one. They even provide christmas presents to kids to families that can’t afford them. Do not judge this school by their test scores!! They are dealing with 39% ELL, most of these students are new to our country and dealing with so much more than just learning english. I love the diversity of our Greenhalge family. The teachers are able to give these kids the support they need while getting my child to an accelerated level. They already have ESL classes for adults and one of my suggestions for next year is to offer Portuguese and Spanish Classes so we can practice and communicate with the other parents. I am so excited to learn a new language. My child has never been bullied. In the two years she has been at Greenhalge she has never been bullied, it seems impossible, but it’s true. If you're looking for the best school for your kids, look no further. All of the teachers and Staff at Greenhalge Elementary School deserve raises and major awards.Parent Review1y ago - Lowell Day Nursery School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOk, Ste Jeanne d'Arc School is in my opinion over-rated. I am a student in 7th grade in the school right now, and can't wait to move schools. the homework load is un-reasonable, I spent 3.5- 5 hours on homework each day (and no, I don't procrastinate). The teachers give homework on the weekends, and I have had to cancel plans with friends to do the amount of work they gave me. I don't even get a lot of family time! most of the work is un-called for and useless, its just a waste of time. I have had to stay up until one in the morning to finish my homework, and then get up at a ridiculous time to get to school. Also as you get more advanced and go to the next grade, the teachers become much meaner and barely compliment the kids. This makes me feel worthless, like Im not good enough and never will be. The teachers and principle only see the students as another "thing" they have to fix or make better, not as people. I have been bullied for the past few years, and there has net been much to any discipline there either. The the teachers are really a hit or miss, some are nice and some are just cruel. They go through 4-6 teachers a year, so the kids always have to adjust to a new teacher. The leadership is horrible. everything is based off popularity. The same people get the same things each year (scholarships, student council votes, raffle wins, etc.). the school does not really help kids with learning differences (there is a child with a learning disability in my class), they just let them use their books for tests when the rest of the class cannot. They give us only one way to learn, one mindset, and creativity is non- existent to them, not even in art, we have to so the art a certain way or we don't do art at all. they make the kids hate themselves, and feel a need to change themselves to reach their high standards. I feel like a prisoner in the uniforms, our hair (how dare I wear a headband that's not in the schools colors, or have bangs), and as I said, even our artwork. Trust me, if you want to break your kid, put them here, If you don't want your kids to hate themselves, shop around, put them elsewhere. Don't let anyone fool you.Student Review2y ago - Franco American School
